Yeah it's kindof slow -- I ICQ'd them -- they said they were on the phone w/ Verio to get it fixed...

likewhoa's name servers are not responding very quickly at all. i suspect their backup link w/ np1 is hurtin:

14 jfk-edge-04.inet.qwest.net (205.171.30.110) 83.773 ms 83.877 ms 83.803 ms
15 65.112.96.98 (65.112.96.98) 90.458 ms 90.397 ms 90.518 ms
16 000-073.np1.net (64.61.0.73) 1398.694 ms 1417.454 ms 1390.628 ms
17 001-173.np1.net (64.61.1.173) 4313.770 ms 4276.395 ms 4294.342 ms
18 024-150.colo.ny.np1.net (64.61.24.150) 4347.453 ms 4366.565 ms 4348.063 ms
19 ns2.likewhoa.com (66.181.170.170) 4392.252 ms 4406.116 ms 4438.877 ms

is np1.net == likewhoa or just a customer of qwest? it doesn't look like a direct connect to qwest but i could be mistaken.

This is a tad annoying -- 3 gigabit connection with backups shouldn't have any lag even if one goes down.

FuckFace,

Ask a Tier-1 provider WHO the real Tier-1 providers are and you will learn that Verio is not.

There is a general net congestion problem concerning traffic that has to be routed through NY right now. If you took a look at the amount of video & data coming through and from here as a result of the 9/11 mularkey you could understand why. It's pure bedlam here so almost everyones routers and switches are being taxed.

It's taking me 1000% longer to load every page on my end. It will pass as these news services get the fuck outta town tommorrow.

I am seeing under 2ms transversing every major backbone in NYC. Verio, Qwest, C&W, UU, ATT, BBN, ALGX. If you are having problems, it is likely either your individual ISP having problems, or the ISPs of the sites you want to load having problems (less likely if you hare having mass problems). All the major news sites load up real nice and quick for me, and I'm in downtown nyc.

i wouldn't think net congestion would cause verio to stop announcing likewhoa's routes though, unless verio's routers are having trouble. verio's usually better about getting things like this fixed faster, but i guess everyone can have a bad day.

Its not like whoa.
All Verio providers are having problems right now.

And I love the comments on Cogent Vs. Verios bandwith.

Hehehe. Too funny.

If you see a Benz with a flat tire on the side of the road while driving buy in your Kia, I bet you tell the wife how the Kia is way better than that Benz to make yourself feel better.

No, its looks like an internal problem with LikeWHoa because the hoting company that hosts them, np1.com, is reachable. So, its not Verio.

You never know who's using who's pipes and what for. My ISP is obviously having problems but if thats the case then I imagine it's possible for other companies as well. The News services are all hosted out in other locations. The congestion or overload would come from the oversubscription of private IP traffic which is different from just plain ol website hosting. Several international news services are using that as a way to relay their video feeds. All of this is originating from the same building Like Whoa is hosted in hence the busy routers & switches.

it looks to me like other verio providers are just fine. which ones do you see having problems w/ verio?

prohosters... no problems
sextracker... no problems
sinhost... no problems

all through verio. likewhoa can't be seen through verio right now, though.

actually yeah ya do.. it's all public information. it has to be for the internet to even work. routers and switches that are in the same building can't affect likewhoa unless likewhoa is using those same routers/switches as everyone else - seems very unlikely ya know?

plus verio is not announcing a route for likewhoa.

You could have all the networks loaded into one building or 20 buildings and it wouldnt make a difference since not everyone in the building runs off one router.

I think the Kia is our generation's Yugo. Anybody here old enough to remember this...

I wasn't old enough to drive back then but I remember all the teens in the neighborhood riding around in these.

Back then they cost $4,000 new! This was like '84 or so.

Now if you take that $4,000 and adjust it for inflation you could buy one of these...

Same shitty car, different decade!

Thats not true bro. It is just an isolated problem with LikeWhoa because the hosting company that hosts them, np1.com, is up and running. So, its not Verio.

http://np1.com/

Also, how come we hear about Like Whoa being spammers all the time when their trying to sell their service, but now you dont hear a peep from them??.....

Going on or close to 3 hours now I believe.

Edit: Actually, closer to 4 hours is what the count is.

Are the times on this thread correct? These problems started at 12am and are still going on now (i.e. LikeWhoa has not returned to Verio routing)?

My kia is much better than my old cogent bandwidth was. Nor is verio in a class much above a nissan at this point.

I didn't even get an e-mail my sites were down... I have no problems with hosts going down once in awhile but I like to be kept updated on the situation.
