Worry about yourself - you'll be happier

Don't worry about what other people are doing or saying online or even in person. Focus on what you are doing and saying and you will be happier and more productive.

If you are a combative person by nature, take a week off from arguing or correcting people about issues you believe in or you know you are right about. Just let everyone else argue, and you focus on doing something more productive like going for walks, reading a book or cleaning out the garage.

Try these tips and let me know how you feel after a few days.

I stopped reading the news about four months ago. My income took a nice little bump and I found myself being much happier in general. I still find out about all of the important events. My life has not changed for the worse since I stopped.

You telling others to worry about themselves kinda defies your purpose, isn't it?

It's been about 4 months. I realized while I make good money I haven't been "happy", in terms of how a person COULD be. Spent a lot of time analyzing life and what is important and it sort of hit me - we only live once. Trivial nonsense is just not worth it any longer. I have too many things I want to see and do before I die and arguing with small minded people or getting frustrated in traffic are none of the things I deem "death bed reflection" worthy.

Sharing this sort of "feeling" is important to me. Feeling this way has been a huge step in life and I think if I can give one person the same sort of calm I have had for awhile now then I've done someone a big favor and that's something I can feel great about.

I am not sure how, to be honest. I am not worried about anyone - I'm just passing on some advice that was passed on to me that has made my quality of life significantly better.

This thread is missing a post telling you to fuck off. Must be troll dinner time.

Worry about yourself - you'll be happier

Yes, letting someone annoy you can seriously waste your time and fuck your concentration to the point where you get nothing done.

Interesting thing. I think that the majority of people are raised and grow up being told "don't be selfish." And most people take that to the extreme in a fashion where they don't take care of themselves. You absolutely must take care of yourself first. You have to be selfish. If you are not in prime condition, you can't properly take care of anybody.

Take care of yourself first. Everything else will follow. Do not be afraid to say "no." You owe it to yourself.

I think removing yourself from aggravated situations is an important way to stay healthy but you can't completely remove yourself from all conflict... there's dangers and consequence in nihilism--see Nietzsche ;)

I can't but agree,

Seven years without taking a vacation, living a busy schedule and dealing with all kinds of negative and retarded pricks (especially the last four years) on a daily basis in the worst city I could ever live left its mark on me, although I'm probably the last person in the world that would ever expect to admit that.

The solution - eliminate negative pricks and influences around you, and don't solve things you have no control about. Takes courage and discipline,

and surprisingly, as most things that take courage and discipline this also works.
