![]() I've been sympathetic to the left wing, given how bad the right wing fucked things up. But the whining about the Arizona law is making me mad. All these left wing Hispanics are screaming how their rights are violated, how they live in a police state now.
Gimme a fuckin break. Arizona sits next to a foreign country whose citizens pop in at will, consuming jobs & public resources. A handful of them commit violent & sexual crimes. I see nothing wrong with a state cracking down when the feds don't do jack shit. ![]() |

Racist, without doubt.
I question the fact that I am a legal here but I do have a Norwegian accent - would they question me? I smell the likes of Germany give or take 1936.

500,000 illegals in AZ alone. It is about time. The person who thinks its racist is the person who thinks that all illegals are Mexican....which is actually pretty racist thinking.
Tea Party people are called violent racists but have not had one riot and no reported arrests? The first day of protesting these real racists start a riot. Gee I wonder why we dont want you in our country? http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news...ll_riot_042310

I was talking to a police friend of mine about the law and he made some great points. Supposedly they will need probably cause to stop you before they can ask you about your immigration status. What this will do is allow them to ask people that they pull over for traffic stops, or if they get called to their homes etc if they are illegals. There are many places in the country where the police will stop someone at a traffic stop, find out they are illegal and yet not be able to do anything about it. Now they will be able to.
Supposedly they can't just look at you and see you have brown skin and look Mexican and stop you. The potential problem as he pointed out, is that there are enough laws on the books that a cop can stop just about any car on the road that they want. I wonder how long it will be before we see people stopped and cars stopped for pretty lame reasons. The other thing that might bother me is that it required legal immigrants to carry their papers on them at all time. That kind of spooks me. For me, this law is a win for the lawyers. The city of Phoenix is already going to sue. The ACLU is going to sue and you know that someone will be asked for their papers, not have them and end up arrested only to be found innocent and they too will then sue. |

Ouch....
Look into the history of mankind and you will see that this type of "initiative" is only the beginning of a movement to "weed out people". That said, I agree that the "problem" with Mexicans (do not get me started if the Canadians suddenly got broke) is an issue to us US Citizens - but what happened to the "Land of the Free"?

Funny how many of the GOP leaders are already screaming that immigration reform is too big of a problem to deal with right now. The GOP is doing everything they can to remain in the minority. Good for them! Weird how the Bowel Movement... oops, I mean the Tea Baggers, have nothing to say about this. I guess "freedom" to them does not pertain to American citizens having to carry papers or face the consequences. |

This is interesting...
The eight years of President George W. Bush?s administration saw a marked increase in illegal immigration and a drop in immigration enforcement throughout much of his tenure. For example, the number of illegal aliens arrested in workplace cases fell from nearly 3,000 in 1999 to 445 in 2003, with the number of criminal cases against employers during this period falling from 182 to four. Not surprisingly, by 2005, there were an estimated 10-20 million illegal aliens living in the United States. Even at the end of 2007 after the Bush administration?s enforcement crackdown had been underway; only 92 criminal arrests of employers had taken place, in an economy that, according to the Washington Post, includes 6 million businesses that employ more than 7 million illegal foreign workers. Full article here... http://www.endillegalimmigration.com...US/index.shtml I also remember reading that he let in 3 to 5 million illegals while he was governor or Texas. Imagine that.... |

Securing the borders needs to come first. Though it's way better than it's ever been with the increased man power and use of warfare perfected technology. It's akin to having a screen door on a submarine. There's a constant flow of people at the border; illegals in, deportees out, illegals in, deportees out. Not to mention the coyotes.

Point: While driving, you are required to have your Driver's License as a means of identification, but primarily to prove you are legitimately allowed to operate a motor vehicle. How is it any different to require a visitor in this country to carry their proper paperwork to identify themselves as well as to prove they are legitimately allowed to be inside the borders of the US? Doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me. If I got pulled over and a cop asks me for ID, the first thing I do is give it to him. I don't cry injustice and lawyer up. If you aren't breaking the law, what do you have to fear? ILLEGALS ARE HERE ILLEGALLY. That is the most important thing people neglect. They are already breaking the law. As tame as many think the offense is, it's still a broken law; just like speeding, stealing gum, jaywalking, murder, embezzlement, etc. There are consequences for each. If they are here legitimately and are harassed, I am all for them wanting to fix the system. I don't however think we should protect the law breakers first and deal with their rights first. The citizens of this country have a right to protect and maintain their citizen base and population base in a responsible manner. Letting the uninvited wander unchecked is a poor way to protect your home.

I think the law is about anytime they stop you they check for a valid ID, if you don't have one, you go to mexico for a vacation, Im thinking maybe a great way to get free travel to mexico

if you wanna immigrate, do it, you are more than welcome to do so legally like my grandparents and millions of others. If you are just jumping the border, you are here illegally, you already broke the law, you have no "American Rights" (TECHNICALLY) if they are all bitching that they are going to leave, and they are picketing this law, it means it's a good one TO DETER ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, I'm sure it'll be on the supreme courts lap in no time, so guess who "O" is gonna pick to replace Steven's. This BS all started with Clinton, and made 10x worse by Bush and Obamo is picking up the torch it seems and will pass it to the next prez to carry it to the finish line. /rant

To operate a car you have to take and pass at least one test (and probably two if you got your permit before your license) and, like you said, you are required to have it on you if you are driving a car. If you get pulled over then chances are it is for a reason. They saw something and decided to stop you for it. At this point you are suspected of breaking a law (albeit the law could be a lame has not signaling when you turned or having a burnt out tail light) so they ask for you license to make sure you are legally allowed to drive a car. Our laws say that you are required to go though the testing to get a license and you will then need to prove you have done that if called upon to do so. If you are here in this country legally you need to proper papers to enter the country (and probably for some other things as well) but they shouldn't be required to be displayed just to walk to the corner store or because you are sitting in a local park playing with your kids. Legal immigrants aren't tourists, they are here to stay. The way I understand the law to be, it would require any legal immigrant to have their papers on them at all times. If they don't they can be arrested. Sure, a cop might be cool with them and drive them home to get the papers, but many won't. Answer me this. If you were just sitting in a park having a picnic with some friends and weren't causing any trouble and a cop walked up to you and said he thought you were illegally here and wanted to see your ID would you be happy about it? I agree that we need to do something about the problem and I think this law takes a big step forward by allowing the police to question and contain those who they have probable cause for, but I am worried about anything that requires those who are legal to carry their papers on them at all times. |

Giving police officers the authority to stop someone simply based on their appearance sets a terrible precedent and is a slippery slope.
The best way to protect your own rights is to protect the rights of people you don't like. But don't forget, it's not the immigrants stealing your jobs, it's the wealthy guy who lives in your subdivision who is hiring them, HE is the one stealing your jobs. If the wealthy factory owner or the wealthy contractor never hired those people, you wouldn't even have an immigration problem. Immigration is already down 20% and it's because nobody is hiring. That's the proof. Do you blame the American who hired them who should know better, or do you blame the immigrant with a 5th grade education for taking a job that is offered to him? Poor people and immigrants are always blamed. But poor people and immigrants have zero power, zero influence, and no representation. Blaming them is comical. The same way it was a group of a few hundred wealthy tycoons which tanked the economy, yet everyone gets up in arms about food stamps bankrupting America...lol. Open your eyes folks, poor people don't have the power to ruin anything.

The only way to stop it it to remove the desire to go to the US. No free health, education, accommodation and fine those who employ them till they squeak. We'll have to see how this law is practically implemented to see if it makes Arizona more secure. Job-wise, I hope people realize we're not going to fix the middle class economy by finding an ethnic groups to blame. Think that was done before in history...didn't turn out so good.

Typical left wing answer. No thinking behind it. Stupid answer. Left wing strategy : Whenever you adversary don't think like you, compare them with nazism, facism. Tell them they are racists and they'll have to defend themselfs. The question is : Are countries still able to decide who comes in inside their borders or not ? I think they do. |
