Stock market dip... A Buying Opportunity?

is this just the correction many were calling for or a sign of worse things to come?

Great question, I think it's a great time to buy. But that's just me. I've been watching it and it's still going down as of 2-3 weeks straight.

I second that. I was just reading Paul Elliot's article where he thinks the Dow is headed below 6500 and soon.

great time to buy now, not much has changed since last month, it's just traders driving the market lower... it will rebound in the near future

It will go down more. How much is the question. Right now WHERE would you put your money? The low/non-existent return from cash might keep money in the market that would normally go toward safer investments thus keeping the market higher than it should be. Last rally being an example.

My prediction this year - Europe's financial system will crash, U.S. residential foreclosures will continue to rise at an alarming pace, and we'll begin to see commercial foreclosures, something we haven't experienced yet and that dwarf the size of residential mortgage debt. By end of year, early 2011, I see lower market below 2008 levels. Unless you're shorting or buying puts, you'll be just going along for the drop.

Good luck Forest... Short-term I would sell more on a small bounce into June 2nd (+/- a day) and look for more weakness into July before a bigger bounce takes hold.

The bottom line is that the world is de-leveraging from a massive credit expansion. When credit contracts, it is deflationary. The party is over until all the excesses get washed away.

As fast as wealth was created out of thin air, so it will disappear!

seems to be market jitters at the moment, traders looking for "negativity" to curb the expansion this spring.
personally buying some quality stocks but not ALL IN type trading, a few quality long holds.

Utah, huh? Can't say I pictured you there.

Congrats on your new home. I trust you are getting settled in well.

I'm 5 months into a new home I bought in Panama in 2007. Hard to believe it took that long to build, I know.

I'd say it's time for the money changers to steal the remainder of everyone's life savings. Get out of stocks and the bank and buy some farm land.. The casino is closing down.

It occurred to me you might be into skiing. Great place for that.

Where's your main residence? Florida? I seem to remember you traveling around for a while.

LMK if you ever get a wild hair to come down to Panama and I will hook you up!

I have some great friends here in Panama from Utah. He is a retired Fire Captain. They are always inviting me back for some fun in the snow. Maybe I'll take them up on it now that my son can enjoy the slopes, too.

I'm not a day trader, but yeah it came back today. Hopefully it extends the rally into June 2nd so I can add to my shorts!
