Complete and utter bullshit. Some registars don't even release information for their URLs regarding how long is left on the registration. I fail to see any evidence whatsoever here - just an idiot who has no clue on SEO.

To anyone who actually reads this and thinks it's correct: I promise you dearly, the 'secret' to SERPS in Google is not how long you have a domain registered for.

Ok, this has been discussed over and over again and if you just saw it now than there is something wrong with you. Domain registration is a part of patent, but Matt Cutts said it does not mean they actually use it for ranking purposes.

So that is the only thing in the patent you take issue with? Cool. Lots of other info in the patent that people here still seem to think matters that doesn't.

I am glad you are on top of your game. However, there are some here that are not as bright or well read as you. I thought there might be some titbits in there to get them to think.

How long you register a domain for probably isn't a big factor, but I think common sense would tell you that it is taken into account. Spam sites and start ups are almost always registered for 1 year at a time. Sites that are established, updated, and popular are usually renewed for much longer period of times.

It's easy to check to see how long a site is registered for.

Everyone please do only exactly what Matt Cutts says you should do. I am sure he knows all and the fact that he has incentive to spread disinformation should not make you hesitate to follow his advice at all.

Thanks!

Which registrars are those?

Anyways, the issue is pretty moot...Google wouldn't hold 1 or less years on registration against anyone since 99% of registrations aren't for more than a year.

Sorry, I meant that some Registars don't release information on certain TLDs. For example, you'll find no expiration date on any .edu domain - I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of any right now.

The days of Spamming Google are drawing to a close. With this patent they reveal just how hard they're coming down on Spam sites
