Brushing Your Teeth At Least Twice A Day May Prevent Heart Disease

LONDON - People who don't brush their teeth twice a day have an increased risk of heart disease, scientists said on Friday, adding scientific weight to 19th century theories about oral health and chronic disease.

That is surprising. I also think that if you eat less food, this will result in less damage to teeth and less staining of the teeth. Good luck.

flossing reduces heart disease also

something to do with the bacteria

Dentists will always ask you if you have recently had any major surgery before they clean your teethe, especially heart surgery, because the bacteria that gets knocked loose can cause a serious infection there.

This is also true with elderly people. Dentists will have them pre-medicate with antibiotics a few days before any dental work.

I find it weird that your teeth can effect your heart! I am going to go brush/floss to be safe....

this is correct.

i used to have a hole in my heart the size of a quarter and would have to take a special medication a week before the dentist each time. this was due to the bacteria caused when cleaning.

those numbers are probably a little padded due to the fact that people who don't bother to brush their teeth tend not to eat responsibly either... plenty of people on slabs at the hospital dead from heart attacks and perfectly healthy teeth...

With that logic, taking out all your teeth will increase life expectancy because less harmful plaque and bacteria plus its harder to eat most unhealthy foods and red meats!

Flavor Flave is onto something?

it actually wasnt that big of a deal when i was younger. just had to deal with it. i just kinda went with the flow. im just glad they didnt have to chop me open for a transplant or anything because that was on the list for a while. they used to do all these tests on me every week but i got MAD free popsicles out of it. i mean like 8 stations of testing and i would be popsicled out.

i remember being in the dentist office onetime and my mom and i remembering at the last minute we forgot medication this time. it would have sucked to be on that 1000 ways to die show (which i hate). death by teeth cleaning LOL.

it is supposed to be healed up so all is good in Meta land.

i brush twice a day, floss once a day. saltwater sounds interesting but doesn't it leave a shitty taste in your mouth for the whole night?

They also told me it prevents your gums from shrinking when you get older.. Been doing this for a couple years now, and sure as shit it works.
Interesting. Do you have a salt shaker and a cup next to the bathroom sink or what? Do you gargle or just slosh it around your mouth?

There was a kid that lived across the street from us when I was 14 or so that had the same problem. I think he was about 10 when he died.

Could be true, yet brushing your teeth at least once a day is pure common sense.

My dance instructor is a clean-teeth freak. She is in her 60's and has all her teeth, and they are perfectly white. She says that without perfect dental care you get a low-level infection in your gums, which moves to your bones and gives you years and years of problems in your body, not just your teeth.

I think she is right, and am slowly becoming a clean-teeth freak myself. Brushing 3 times a day, flossing twice a day, and using perioguard every night. I don't want a mouth full of rocks when I'm old.
