I been doing the same took my dog out twice and I'm still freaked out my dog will go under. My Black Lab mix is not scared of the water but swims like an amature, I want to train him to do dock diving and jump like 20 feet.

I'm not sure that's really teaching your dog to swim. Clearly the dog knows how to swim and can't be bothered unless you tell it too
