Dog Owners - do you go to dog bakeries?
Our 3 dogs are beyond spoiled. We've been buying the bakery treats from 3 Dog Bakery. A lot of the stuff is human edible and actually pretty damn tasty (yes, I've tried their sandwich cookies and they are amazing).
![]() Do you shop at a dog bakery for your dog's treats? It sucks that they are located in Summerlin, while we're in Henderson...but it's worth the 45 minute drive. Our dogs love the carrot cake and canine canolis the best. They also love the 3 Dog Entrees from there: ![]() The owner of the Vegas store is also a real knowledgeable guy. For anyone out here that wants to pamper their pooch a little, I highly recommend them: http://www.threedogvegas.com/

We don't have many dog specific bakeries or restaurants here, but we do take dogs to bars and stuff

Nah, we go straight to Surrey Meat Packers (go on and laugh, I'll wait)
.... Anyway, they sell mostly dog food now, made from human grade meat. They make these dried liver treats that Daisy LOVES to bits. She's not big on baked items at all.

When I lived walking distance from a bakery in Long Beach and Sacramento, they were regular stops for us on our walks. My dog lead the way all the time. Now that I'm in suburbia, she doesn't get the special treats as much....now you have me thinking I need to do that for her this weekend.

It's edible by humans, too? That's really spoiling the dog.
These sandwich cookies are such a high quality food.

actually, she has been off meat for almost 6 years now, so has developed meat allergies and gets really sick when even a little bit of meat gets in her food.

Dog bakeries? No. Never.
I buy my dog dental chews. It helps to cut back on her tartar. She loves them.

I used to go to a little local shop / boutique just south of clearwater. They baked their own cookies but they were always hit or miss with my guys. They like almost anything you give them, but they didn't go crazy for the cookies like they do for something like puperoni.
Since we're talking about treats I used to get my guys this freeze dried peanut butter ice cream for dogs, they LOVED it, but one day I got a bad batch and my chi got so sick from it he got a GI infection- it was pretty rough and had to get meds and slowly work him back into eating reg food again- took about a week. So yeah, I stear clear of anything with dairy in it just to be on the safe side. |

The last house we lived in there was a bakery with in walking distance and we would go there to get cookies every other day as it was a good walk for the dogs. They had the best cupcakes in the world, boy I kinda miss that place.

Yes, I do go to dog bakeries. I think they deserve it. There is no doubt they are members of the family, and more loyal than ANY friend.

lol@vanilla flavor
Hope ya realize dog would rather eat fresh meat (cooked/fried whatever) any day of the week then that silly stuff. I can't believe what they won't invent. That is not pampering your dog, that's pampering your sense of what it likes. Just give the dog meat, not some dried stuff or "baked" vanila cookies rofl. God some people are silly.

Indy does not like normal dog treats or chews: if we buy him bones, meaty treats, etc, he will ignore them. This suits our other dog fine, as she loves things like cow ears and beef bones and other normal dog things, so she reaps the benefits of Indy not caring for normal dog treats. But if you have anything remotely sweet, he will beg and beg and beg. That dog has a bigger sweet tooth than any person I've ever met. And he SAVORS the stuff - it will take him a good 2-3 minutes to eat a cookie, and he has definite favorite flavors of jelly beans that he'll "save" and won't let the other animals near. It's actually pretty hilarious, because he's usually the most submissive dog ever - the only time he stands up to the other animals in our house is if they try to get too close to his sweets! I also used to have a cat that, when I was little, would ignore treats but would steal my butterscotch pudding if I even looked the other way. Jerk cat, stealing a little girl's pudding. So yeah, you're wrong. Animals that are exposed to all sorts of food tend to develop various tastes and preferences as well, it's only natural. The other dog that I mentioned, for example, has a definite preference for kibble that has duck in it - but she doesn't like kibble with buffalo. Like I said, if they have options (and they do, since I worked at a pet store for awhile and still love to spoil them), they will develop their own preferences!

are you really that dense? They get human grade fresh food, minus all the seasonings and things that are bad for them (salt, onions, lettuce, raisins, etc.) So, yes, they do enjoy a treat once in awhile....

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/treat 13. anything that affords particular pleasure or enjoyment. So a treat is something "special". You thinking it likes "vanilla flavored" bullshit more then meat, and that that is a treat is just funny beyond any comprehension. Try giving him meat, not the silly dried food or whatever you buy that is considered "human grade" and see how it likes that treat. Dogs are not humans, vanilla means nothing to them get it to your head.

Is it really so hard for you to believe that sentient beings with taste buds may develop individual preferences when it comes to food? Or is it just that you made a stupid comment and are going to defend it to the death out of some retarded internet pride?

you do know that too much meat isn't good for the dog as well, right? You have to watch sodium intake as well as caloric intake. As for "real meat", that is what they are fed, along with carrots, beans and rice. Unseasoned healthy food. They get their treats once in awhile between meals as well. Our dogs are happy and healthy. Hey, we have a dog that east cat shit, that doesn't mean it's a good choice for her to eat it....of course, what would my fiancee, the veterinary nurse, know about that anyways, right?

Of course some dogs like chicken more then beef or vice versa, that's not what we're talking about. I'm talking about this dude spending money on DOG TREATS that have absolutely no relevance to the dog like those cookies. Quote:
