Will .co domains raise traffic type-ins to .com?

Everyone buying some .co domains to get some type-ins and whatnot, but is this the case? I would think .com would be the beneficiary of this as everyone is so used to typing in .com.. its almost going to give the .com owner 10% of your traffic.. Not you 10% of .com traffic..

What do ya think?

but isnt the idea that the typeins a .co gets is because people press the "return" button too quickly before hitting the "m" button?

.co domains are stupid

you inevitably will leak quality traffic to whoever owns the .com domain

I do rubbish typing all the time but usually it's # instead of the return key rather than leaving letters off.

It would seem to me that there has to be a wide spread awareness of the extension "co" or a lot of surfers will remember a "co" domain as "com" when they type something in. I don't really see it being anymore of a big deal than mobi, cm, info, biz or any others. When these extensions come out, all the good domains are already taken by the players, and we get the crumbs. Does anyone think they are going to get sex.co or sex.xxx? You might get sex-my-tree.co or sex-bark-fart.xxx, but's that's pretty much it.

If you're part of the growing number of Google Chrome users, will the .co domain perhaps appear within the auto suggestions as you type, thus garnering more clicks?
