![]() Phoenix police shot and killed a man suspected of pointing a gun at them Saturday night. The shooting happened near 55th Avenue and McDowell Road around 7:15 p.m. Officers say around 7 p.m. they got a report of a man going into the home of his in-laws and stealing a gun. The victims told police Carlos Franco-Ruiz, 29, fled their home with the revolver in a silver Mercedes Benz. They also indicated their daughter and Franco-Ruiz were in the middle of a domestic dispute and they would go check on her. A patrol car responding to the suspect's home in the area observed a silver Mercedes and tried to pull him over, but he drove away. After arriving at a family member's home, detectives say the man put his car in reverse and backed into a police cruiser. Investigators say he got out of his car at the home and pointed the gun at police. After not obeying the officers voice commands to put down the gun he fired at the officers leading to two officers opening fire. Franco-Ruiz was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meantime, the in-laws found Franco-Ruiz's wife at their home, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics took the woman to the hospital where she was listed in serious condition, but is expected to survive. According to police, the investigation indicates Franco-Ruiz may have shot his wife and then fled the area. That remains under investigation. Franco-Ruiz and his wife were estranged in their relationship, but police have no further information on their marital status.
