Adbrite owes me $6k and terminated my affiliate account

Cliffsnotes for people who arent going to read this all:
1. Partner sent a site 84 cents worth of fraudulent impressions (14k page views)
2. Adbrite terminated my account and made me forfeit $6k in earnings (along with future earnings obviously) even though I had no knowledge of what was happening and had been earning consistently with them for over 4 years
3. Yet another large adult company refuses to payout over something minor
4. Information on my fucking idiot of a partner

First off, I want to come out and say that a partner on a site I was working with since december was banned from adbrite due to supposed click fraud. I had nothing to do with his sites except for 1 I ran together with him. I had no way to know about this, I managed the monetization and he setup traffic trades and buys. At some point he decided it was an excellent idea to buy traffic to 300x250s (i guess according to adbrite he had been doing this on this other sites) with an iframe to our site. None of this I knew about and there were no significant traffic spikes or anything (I went back and looked at the supposed days this happened).

But fast forward to yesterday. I get a call from a Charles Spencer at Black Label Ads who is part of their fraud team or whatever. He asks me to clarify 2 things, the first is something minor that wasnt an issue. The second part is what I began to talk about earlier. He tells me this (first time I know of the site having anything to do with it) so I check it out and yes, it appears he is doing something shady along these lines. He calls my partner who refuses to say anything, calls me back and says my accounts and earnings are terminated and forfeited. I ran my own zones on the site which received 14k fraudulent page views from the banner in question. This at 3 zones a page at a very generous 7 cents cpm comes out to 84 cents worth of fraudulent earnings.

Sooooooo. I attempt to appeal it through my always helpful BLA rep Maggie. She talks with Charlie some and I dont hear anything back in the evening. I wake up today, zones are all dead, but no word on the appeal but not looking good. So I call up Charlie, he says nothing he can do, even though I've been a constant earner for 4 years and this site in question only takes up a very small portion of my earnings (and the fraud accounted for a max of 84 cents that went on without my knowledge).

Now while this was a violation of their TOS, it seems somewhat suspicious that yet another large adult company does want to pay out earnings to me. How long does it take for them to earn $6k off someone that makes $3k a month? well at 10-15% of their cut thats only $300 a month, so thats 20 months! They were even 2 weeks late paying out 2 months ago, seems to be a typical indicator when a sponsor is having problems with money.

Interesting... first no luck with adult-profit paying, now rehab and sobv aren't paying... well damn, maybe adbrite thought it was a good idea to can me and take the money and run. Who knows if adult will even exist in 20 months.

But enough about me. My partner is Adam Johnson who also goes as ajonline, he lives somewhere in minnesota, doesn't run much adult any more but has a good deal of arcade sites it seems. He continues to do this shady bottom of the page 300x250 ad buying with encoded javascript ripping off companies like pornhub and extreme tube (such as here: http://www.fuxoo.com/ads/tehvids/tehvids1.html)

Thoughts?

sucks to be you. Your partner does something shady and you paid for it.

I love when people use the excuse "it was my partner".

i only partner up with people who i know through and through.

the biggest scam in the book is one partner always claiming they didnt know what the other partner is doing. you think these companies are stupid enough to fall for that?

he is your partner, you should know what he is doing. it is your problem, not theirs.

you sound like the dude in the car that is stolen on cops shows. "OFFICER I SWEAR I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS STOLEN I SWEAR I THOUGHT HE DROVE A BMW".

I've been in adult 4 years, been to shows, run an upstanding operation. He isn't my partner any more (sent him a link to this thread, not like there is much more money to lose), well unless he can come up with about $30k to cover past and current earnings. But he did say it was sorry which made it oh so much better.

He hosted 300x250s on other sites (the one in question WAS on the site we partnered on buried in a few folders), bought traffic to them from other sites, not really anyway to know about that since the traffic was never significant. And the fraudulent impressions in questions were a mere 14k worth, I do that in a fucking minute all day everyday.

it doesnt matter if you personally did it or not.

IT IS FRAUD! fraudulent clicks is FRAUD.

Fraud -Defrauding people or entities of money or valuables is a common purpose of fraud.

you were profiting from FRAUD. it doesnt matter how much or how little fraud is fraud.

ya nice to laugh at unless you are the company that has to hire entire staffs of people to stop assholes like you and your partner.

"fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual; the related adjective is fraudulent."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraud

There was no intent as I was unaware. Fraud has to be intentional, you cant accidentally defraud someone

Nope, said they weren't paying out and terminating my account and basically nothing I could do. I was just peacefully watching the worldcup updating sites yesterday and I just get this call randomly about it. Now I'm out $6k of earnings and $100 a day in future earnings.
So what sponsors are next going to edit their TOS (they can do it at anytime) that if your site isn't purple it violates TOS and then decide to cancel your payment and ban your account just so they can keep your money

ah the gfy trolls. You guys do know there really is no way I can benefit personally from this. It really doesn't matter, other then some small satisfaction of hurting my ex partner's (there, happy?) rep. Adbrite said I was done, they said there was nothing I could do, my partner just did too much damage with his cheating (which I guess was done on other sites of his). So I guess this is just your typical gfy drama that doesnt go anywhere or resolve anything, but I dont really contribute drama ever so I figured I would finally do my part.

Carry on.

Sometimes you get fucked over by someone you "thought" was a friend or someone you really knew.

Look at how BradM closed shop and just dissapeared.

Not saying the guy as a valuable excuse bad as you said Fraud is fraud but sometimes the people you are the most honest with you can be very decieving

agreed, but if my partner commits fraud against a company im not going to come online and bash them. i am not afraid to take ownership.

i could care less about brad, he was never my partner, in fact he came on here and made lies about me committing crimes thinking it was funny.

it is how the law works.

you buy a stereo from someone and if it is stolen you are still in possession of stolen property. you can sit there and pull the "i had no idea card" all you want but when a crime is committed the law does not care about the gray area.

aRock says adbrite owes $6k.
That sucks. Good luck.
You may get your account canceled due to reason of placing "multiple pay-per-impression banners on one page instead of one per page."

Yer true that, you're lucky they don't press charges. You're the account holder so for them you're the criminal.
I'm not aware about adbrite but Adsense has lawyers all over the world that take peoples ass to court for much less ($)

You've come too soon after someone else who i've already forgotten who it was blamed their ex-partner for everything and mrfrisky appeared to have several personalities so 'my partner did x' just ends up making you sound like you are making stuff up. Shelly makes it sound like you hooked up with someone previously iffy too so you can't really make a fuss against adbrite not paying when you broke their terms.

Plus you've got to remember it's all about flaming success and laughing at someone's bad luck around here.

Why did you have 60 days worth of revenue sitting in your account? Are they that far behind or did you just get lazy?

Net 30 and its a month long period and its the end of the period... so may's earnings pay out in july and june's earnings pay out in august. Once again, tos violated, lose money. But $6k outstanding, I'm sending 80 million impressions monthly, have been consistently sending traffic for 4 years and they just close the account? Just seems to be a short term money grab since they may not be paying out to anyone by the time they would've profited $6k by me just running banners the traditional way

I know of a lawyer that specializes in getting cash owed to you from affiliate programs like this.

Hit me up if you want his info.

ajonline definitely is not the AJ McCoy that Shelly mentioned earlier in this thread. Arock was not doing biz with someone with a "shady past"...

I wonder if anyone else in this thread has ever co-run a site with someone, or had bad traffic unknowingly sent across their network outside of their control. Hell, in the past people have been termed from ad programs for trading traffic with the wrong TGPs... With the communal way traffic is traded and sites are run in this industry, you would expect ad networks to be a little more understanding in a situation like this. I think an adjustment of earnings is way more justified than termination, especially after such a long history.

Queue the flames from people who don't run traffic sites or trade traffic.

Wait so what happens if someone repeatedly clicks your link like 50 bazillion times just because? Does that get you in trouble? Sometimes I see those banner adds that are like games like "shoot the target" and i keep clicking them like 50 times lol... i hope im not fucking someone over.
