I'm reading a book about the Beatles. It's fucking long, 900 pages. I'm about 2/3 of the way through, and just up the part where Yoko Ono entered the scene.

I was just a toddler when I got to watch the Beatles first performance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I thought they were cool because I got to stay up after 8:00 pm. My older sister was freaking out. My mom thought they were gross and everyone had to keep my dad from turning the channel.

I just looked at a photograph of Ringo Starr from 2010 and surprisingly he looks younger than he is. Happy Birthday, Ringo Starr. A person in good shape can look good at any age.

yeah, ringo has aged great, cool looking 70 year old. paul mccartney has looked like an old woman since he's been 50.

I just looked at a photograph of Paul Mccartney from 2010. I don't think he looks like an old woman. He doesn't look too bad for his age.

Dalai Lama also looks good for his age.

Ringo turned out to be the good looking one after all and may outlive the rest despite being the oldest.

I was 8 when they played Sullivan and I had two older sisters. Needless to say, I grew up with everything Beatles. And I loved it. I can still remember lying in my bed at night, with the window open and the attic fan on (no AC back then) and my little transistor radio with a single earpiece listening to the Beatles tunes, along with all the other great music of the early 60s. This is why I pity the kids coming along today - all they have is (c)rap and bouncy knowles to listen to. So sad.

I remember visiting relatives in Kansas. Eldest cousin wasn't home, so we checked out her record collection.. nearly all Beatles. Also found these funny looking cigarette butts that were all pointy. They smelled funny.

It was the best trip ever.

I was the ripe old age of 7 when they broke up. Heard their stuff constantly though, as all my brothers and sisters were 5-10 yrs older than me. (and coincindentally, they still are, ha)

Happy 70 Ringo, it don't come easy..

I had to watch them (and any other rock act) on the Sullivan show in my parents' room on their small tv - my father wouldn't allow rock music on the TV in the living room.
My mother bought me "Meet the Beatles" but she hid it from my father and I could only play the album during the day when he was at work.

What pissed me off but was also hysterical was several years later --- watching him drumming his fingers and whistling along with Beatles songs that were rearranged for Muzak (elevator music with violins, no vocals) as he drove.

I will be 60 in a few weeks. Saw the Beatles once in London, couldn't hear a thing for the girls screaming. Remember the first time I heard Sgt Peppers and being knocked out by it.

Saw Paul McCartney a few years ago in Prague. Brought me to tears hearing some of the songs I grew up to.
