				Keywords vs blogpost

On every blogpost you add keywords, but how many, is there a right amount, should it be as specific as possible or should you also include your 'more' general keywords.

What do you think is the right approach? ![]()

Google will penalize you if the keyword density is too high. Usually google will penalize you (lower ranking in search results) if your keyword density is higher than 15-20%. This means that less than 15-20% of your whole text should be the keyword.

In 2004, Google wanted a keyword density of 10 to 15%. In 2005 it was less than 3%. These days it's not how many keywords you use, but where you place them and how. If you worry too much about keywords it becomes counterproductive. Only use them when they read naturally in the text.

Latent Semantic Indexing plus keyword stuffing dampers. Old tricks don't work as well now. There are many workarounds though that benefit both SE rankings and the actual reader. Google even gives you the tools to figure this out.

Just to be clear: I am not talking about the text in the posts, but the keywords that you fill in with every post. Is it better to use general keywords or use keywords that are as specific as possible?

PS: I myself use a keyword density of about 5%
