Joseph Gordon-Levitt As The Riddler?

Quote:
The rumor that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has beat out Eddie Murphy for the role of Riddler in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight sequel has been floating around the Internet and abstinence meet-ups for a little while. Today First Showing got there hands on a casting grid that confirms the thesp may sign on to tease Batman's brain.

The grid lists the Riddler as a character appearing in the film, with Gordon-Levitt listed as "interested." Whether this will come together or not is anyone's guess. Maybe they'll need him for a G.I. Joe sequel instead. What we do learn from this is that the Riddler will show up to piss Batman off with confusing labyrinthian puzzles and traps. Think of it like Nolan's reimagining of Saw.

Eddie Murphy? LOL. If they even remotely considered him... wow. I would have been very disappointed.

What an odd choice to have to make in the first place. No offense to Eddie Murphy but besides happening to be in Shrek, he's been box office poison more or less. He used to be really funny too...kind of a shame. Just not sure he'd be good in a bad guy role.

That said, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an odd choice for that too. Ironically, given Jim Carrey is pretty good at serious roles too, it would have been sweet for him to do it just for the novelty of an actor doing the same role but differently. I realize he probably still costs $25 mil per movie though. :/

Considering his resemblance to Heath Ledger they could have just made him into the Joker and brought that character back.

He's playing the Riddler?!?

That IS an odd choice:

Come to think of it, he was the Master Thespian, so why not...

BTW, I heard a rumor that Christian Bale needs to get back into shape before the next installment of Batman starts filming. After the big stink about his on-set rant, and then with Heath Ledger dying, I hear he really let himself go...
