"Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been trying to position himself as an anti-porn crusader. That?s why he?s rejected apps with terms like ?booty.? (Though the company does have an app from Playboy because, as Philip W. Schiller, Apple?s head of worldwide marketing, told The New York Times, ?The difference is this is a well-known company with previously published material available broadly in a well-accepted format.?)

When Apple banned an app made by Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Mark Fiore, Jobs admitted they made a mistake. But, in an e-mail, Jobs reportedly explained Apple?s pickiness to a customer by saying that the company had a ?moral responsibility? to keep porn off the iPhone: ?Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone."

But, when it comes to technology, the porn industry has a history of being ahead of the curve. They beat the big movie studios when it came to selling access to streaming video online. Now, it looks as if the porn industry is discovering the wonders of FaceTime, the iPhone 4's video-chat system. Several ads on Craig?s List are looking for girls who want to do live chat with an iPhone 4.

Clint Ecker, a freelance journalist, spotted an ad four days after the iPhone?s release. The ad claimed that they were starting a company where women will chat with customers on a pay-as-you-go basis. The women will talk to the clients and ?perform various acts as desired by clients.? In exchange, the women get a free iPhone 4 and increased pay as the business grows.

I guess Mr. Jobs is going to discover that being a crusader is hard work, harder than fixing antennas and keeping the press at bay. But, at least, he may have a few more satisfied customers."

Android is where the opportunities will be. iPhone might not have the same hefty marketshare in 5 to 8 years time. Who knows...
