Who played Trade Wars ?

I've been tripping down BBS memory lane today after a friend told me about a BBS Documentry .

The BBS world was very much a part of my high school life and I suppose a lot of who I am now comes from discovering that world. Certainly without it I wouldn't have made it onto the web at the stage that I did.

Anyway, the nostalgia lead to the discussion of door games and particularly Trade Wars. Did anybody else play it back then? How about Legend of the Red Dragon?

I probably should have known I wasn't fully straight when I tried to get the bar maid in the game drunk so many times.

I got into the BBS world in my junior year in high school. It was such an underground thing at our school but there were a core of us who were always on the boards. It was weird because if there was more than one node on the board you could see what the other person was doing. I ended up learning WAY too much about the porn the other geek kids at school were downloading. Weirdly, it was one of those guys that told me I should look at getting into online porn a few years down the line..lol

Trade Wars was serious stuff in that group. One kid got stalked and beaten up in the hallways over something he did on the game. Meanwhile the teachers are having no clue they have this weird geek warfare going on.

I found a site where people are running Trade Wars servers people can log into and play but something easier to access would be good. If only for memory lane purposes. It should stick with giving you limited moves a day though. That was half the challenge.

Yeah I used to waste a lot of time on LORD

My favorite MUD from back in the day was British Legends on Compuserve... I wonder how many people here played that...

The kid that I talked about getting beaten up got that beating because he was a sysop and was caught sitting and watching when other people logged in to play. Then once they logged off he would go to where he saw them stop and attack them.
