St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank "in trouble"

Just a little something came across my desk from the local paper in St. Kitts.

"Main Opposition Party on St. Kitts, People?s Action Movement (PAM), has questioned the financial status of the National Bank, saying failure to produce the audited accounts for 2009 could be an indication that something is amiss.

Quote:
?Is our National Bank in trouble? The national economy is experiencing significant difficulty and the last thing anyone would like to contemplate is trouble in our largest indigenous bank. It is reported by sources close to the bank that the Annual General Meeting has been postponed without a date set because the auditors have refused to sign off on the accounts that should be made available to shareholders at the AGM. Information is scarce about the precise objections being raised by the auditors, and this lack of information is fueling ever wilder rumors,? a PAM press statement claims.

PAM alleges mismanagement of the National Bank?s funds on the part of the government as well as the top echelon of the institution.

?With speculation rife about the status of the National Bank, its own payment policy in December 2009 is coming under intense scrutiny. For Christmas the employees of National Bank, from Sir Edmund Lawrence himself right down to the lowest paid, carried home the equivalent of three (3) months? salary in bonuses and holiday payments. This amounted to a significant expenditure on the part of the bank, while many shareholders are still waiting for their long overdue dividends,? said the statement."

Enjoy.

I am sure many people out there who use them would also, I used them years ago when they first went live but lost touch since then.

All they say is they're "sorting it out with Visa".

The bank is owned by the government. I can't see them letting it go belly up. More likely that they are just trying to get a better bailout for it.

Not that easy. They've got to find a bank that issues a loadable product and will allow them to integrate their system to the bank at some level or another to effect the transfers from the main deposit account to the individual accounts attached to the issued cards.

Further, if it's e-Passport that's causing the bank's issue with VISA, VISA probably won't let them jump ship to another bank.

This really depends on what the real issue behind the scenes is. My guess is that this was VISA protecting themselves from some sort of liability because they found something really wrong here. Unless VISA gave them due notice and the bank and/or e-Passporte didn't release it to the users while they tried to work it out.

The person that created this thread is a dumbass...

THE NATIONAL BANK and the bank you are referring too are two different banks!

St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank is the privately owned bank just like BofA that is buying debt from the National Bank of Anguilla. They are two different entities...

Just because it is Bank of America the rest of the world shouldn't assume it is the Federal Reserve.

your post isn't directly related on the issues that concerns everybody in this board (aka EP), if so, only tangentially. Steiger's quoted link is directly related. While St Kitts-Nevis Government is responsible for watching how banks under its legal sphere of influence are working, and at some point may "salvage" any given bank for any given reason, in this case it's the opposite situation, these politicians wants to cut SKNANB financing of government, and this issue was actually addressed by Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (the higher authority) for some time since SKNANB had actives for 1 billion in 2008 and nobody knows what happened in 2009 yet.

Please tell me you didn't wrote the above

SKNANB actually is the bank behind EPassporte AND is the National Bank of St.Kitt-Nevis-Anguilla. There's a higher instance (the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank) which handles monetary issues, currency and parities between St Kitts, Nevis, Angulla and several other islands/countries, but each country has its own National Bank. Please inform yourself before calling other someone else a dumbass, it's not like this made you look too bright

Do you or I even need to acknowledge anything this guy posts? I tend to pass over the financial minions and intellectual midgets who make moronic posts like that. Obviously the guy is clueless to boot and feels the need to comment on every thread he can, in some sort of weak attempt to seem like he is in the know and here to teach us all a thing or two.

Anyone here knows that SKNANB is the bank directly behing epassporte, I mean they even print it on the back of their debit cards, chances are this guy even has a card of his own and yet still for some reason there is another bank working with epassporte.

Payoneer is great for those who get reasonable payouts. The minute you get your payoneer card you are allowed to take out $2000 usd per day cash from atm's worldwide.

There is no forced limits on you beside that $2000 dollar per day one. They do not make you submit your life story to get a card. Many affiliates pay to payoneer as well.
