:mad US govt loans mexico $1Billion to drill for oil in Gulf

Full story - click here

Quote:
(CNSNews.com) ? The U.S. Export-Import Bank, an independent federal agency, loaned more than $1 billion to the Mexican state oil company PEMEX in 2009 to support the company?s oil drilling in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The bank has another $1 billion in loans in the pipeline for 2010, unless Congress objects.

On May 27, after the British Petroleum oil spill, President Obama imposed a moratorium on U.S. deepwater drilling in the Gulf, effecting 33 deepwater drilling rigs in the region.
What the flying fuck? U.S. can't drill but we can loan money to other countries to drill near us?

On top of the money we gave to Brazil for super deep water drilling, where Soros had large amounts invested. I wonder if Soros has larges amounts of money invested in these company as well.

What's the premium? We have one of the best oil rates in the world.

And what interest are they paying on the loan?

I don't agree with the moratorium but these are completely separate issues. The federal government is massive, what the left hand does often is completely different than what the right hand will ever even know about.

Sort of.

It's our tax dollars, but it's a bank - they loan the money out, get the money back, make a profit over it. In the mean time, they are loaning out money that will benefit US tax payers in the long run. Mexico is the second larger exporter of oil to the US (Canada is first), so it makes sense that we would help ensure that Mexico continues to produce oil.

This is win win all around. We loan them the money, the produce us cheap oil, and the bank (and thus the US tax payers) make a profit when they repay us.

Americans tend to think that all of our oil comes to the Middle East and that we pay a lot for our oil, and this couldn't be any further from the truth. We get most of our oil from Canada and Mexico, and pay a lot less the Europe does at the pump.

development of infrastructure in Mexico would have a massive impact on immigration down the road, and part of the real problem.

investment in brazil is very good business sense, considering their economic bloc will be out performing ours within 20 years.

good moves people.. good moves
