Chattanooga, TN will offer 1 Gbps ultra high speed internet connections to it 170,000 customers by year's end!

The city-owned utility, EPB, plans to announce on Monday that by the end of this year it will offer ultra-high-speed Internet service of up to one gigabit a second. That is 200 times faster than the average broadband speed in America.

Only Hong Kong and a few other cities in the world offer such lightning-fast service, and analysts say Chattanooga will be the first in the United States to do so. ?This makes Chattanooga ? a midsized city in the South ? one of the leading cities in the world in its digital capabilities,? said Ron Littlefield, the city?s mayor.

wow, wow! This is indeed something really exciting! I wonder how they'll manage to provide the necessary bandwidth that will cover the speed....

Wow, I'll bet all 10 of the Internet users in Chattanooga are thrilled. Heck, 9 of those users can even read and the 10th one said that he "likes them purty pictures".

We can have 1gb/s here too but I stick to my 100/100 since It's $30 and the 1g one is over $100 since It's fairly new. Overkill at the moment for me.
