I've ADMINed forums before and tried rep systems and in all cases ended up pulling them because of misuse. Not saying this will happen on GFY......................

Rep systems work well in theory but in the real world "issues" develope. IF you can call interent forums the real world.

Apart from now they will have people posting more to try to get to that post count so they can rate. If they go by join date then post levels can stay just the same as ever with people simply waiting out their time until they get the chance to give rep.

well, I gave a formula in one of those rep threads (now lost!) that took into account post count (as in fact a negative factor for very high post counts) and how much you'd been rep'd today (another negative factor).

By playing with the formula on random people (I had to assume people like JDL had been repped a lot in a day) it worked out quite well to determine whether a person could give rep or not.

Anyway, it amused me briefly to figure a formula out and now it's gone. It will stay simple I'm sure.
