My Dog DOES NOT Have Cancer

I made a drunken post recently because I was led to believe that my 11 year old old Sheppard/Border Collie mix had cancer, and that he would be dead within a few months. That was the prognosis and initial diagnosis. Cancer - dead dog.

Turns out that its just a fibrous growth in his left armpit, and its benign. Not life threatening, and 100% operable. While it IS a potentially crippling affliction, it will not kill him. It WILL cost a small fortune to have it removed, but I don't care.

Here's my big boy:

He's only 80 lbs - not that big - but he's the biggest, happiest, GOOFIEST friend I've had the pleasure of living with. He's my beautiul boy, and I am so happy that he's got a few more years left in him.

Same pic I posted last week - I posted it when I thought he was a dead dawg. I thought he was going to die. Turns out - my big boy's got a couple years left in him. And I am so fucking happy.

He looks happy. I'm glad he;s going to be ok.

My chihuahua broke his arm at the elbow when he was a puppy, set me back over $3k for the surgery alone (not counting visits, xrays, etc). I think Dyna Mo also spent a small fortune on his guy under similar circumstance.

In the end the money spent doesn't matter. Glad to hear you feel that way too. I'd pay whatever it costs to keep my little guys happy and healthy.

Glad he will be okay. It sucks when our pets have health issues.

He's a big dog and he's eleven years old - so I can only give him a few more years, but I really appreciate the sentiment! We were told he'd be dead by spring.

He's not out of the woods yet - he's still got a huge lump in his armpit - but it hasn't spread and we're pretty happy here.

He's a good dog. The best friend you could ask for.

Thank you, Sally! He's such a good boy - a big, goofy, beautiful boy.

We have three other dogs, and you should have seen the little guys react when Scruffy finally came home. They were going NUTS on him. We had to lock Scruff in a room because he was so tired, and the rest of the the pack wanted to bury themselves into his fur. Scruff was trying to go to sleep, and the little guys were snuggled around him like he was their mother.

Again, we are so happy. He's not out of the woods, but he's not terminal.

Thank you.

Jack
My kids are adults now and I have no intentions of making anymore children. My dogs are my kids now, and I love them to death.

My last Border Collie died of cancer when he was eleven, so I thought the worst when I got the news about Scruffy. Same age - same disease.

Turns out he might have a few years left in him yet.

Thank you for your post. My dogs mean more to me than most people can understand.

He does, Baddog. Thank you for remembering.

Christ forgive me, I'm crying now. God bless you Baddog, Goodgirl and Buddy for remembering my stupid dog. I'm a mess of tears now. I'll be back when this thread is forgotten.

Christ, you got me. Right now, I'm breaking down.
