He sold over 490 000 copies at 10 euros (14 dollars)/pop and selling around 5500/day still!

A good example of that graphic isn't everything...
New games comes out with super realistic-looking graphic but the gameplay is shit. I still play WC3 and CS 1.6.

This game is the most successful low budget/shitty looking game of the century because of the marketing, social aspects and very addictive gameplay. So trust me it is very hard to reproduce his success. Most budget indie devs are lucky to sell a 100 copies of their games.

A friend of mine is working as game designer for a company only developing/running subscription based browser games.
They started like 2 or 3 years ago with 2 people, now they have like 50 employees and make millions each month. Mainstream online games generate LOADS of money! |
