adult domain sales STILL suck?

Haven't tried to sell any domains for a while, but I put a couple threads up for sale recently with no bites, no offers, no inquiries... even with really low pricing. A lot different from 2 years ago when I could sell a nice domain for a couple hundred easy within a couple days of putting a thread up.

I even GAVE AWAY free domains, and got a lot of comments about how nice and quality they were but when I tried selling them for like 10 bucks each no one bought any.

Now I have some CHEAP teen domains for sale with no inquiries.

do sales really still suck this bad? What gives?

HuntingMoon sold $92.5 k in cams domains last week, $270k short category killer pending now, and has a $1.5 m dictionary adult name sale in progress. my feeling is that the bigger ticket names are selling better right now.

It also could be that the big $ domain buyers don't even consider small $ domains and they are missing out.

I usually just register my own for $9 bucks at namecheap, sure there's some really good domain names that are being sold but I don't really like shelling out a few hundred when I can turn a 9 dollar domain into a money maker by myself.

Yep, I think I have given my thread it's last bump for a while.

Renewed nearly all my domains, going to start using them myself

I haven't really seen a slowdown much in the super premium domain sales. It almost seems like buyers are taking advantage of lower prices and grabbing some deals. Congrats on the sales

Yeah, there's a lot of nice ones dropping lately so there's a lot available. These aren't super premium domains so I'm just trying to sell them to someone that can put it to use for $15-40.

I'm trying to sell some decent domains for $15 - $40 which is a great deal IMHO. If they don't sell I'll be doing the same, transferring them and developing them eventually when I get some extra time. I'll give the thread a couple more days, I just put it up this weekend I think.

Same stuff here, I have not received any serious offers for mine names yet, I do not consider 10$-50$ a serious offers. Perhaps I'm not marketing them right but I don't have time for it now. Well, I just gave a shot with domain selling business because I have never tried it before. If no one will be interested I will develop them myself or I will just keep them parked, as long as they earn reg fee It's not bad.

Yeah, $15-40 is just to get rid of them to someone that can use them. They're decent domains but I have a long list of domains to develop before these. If no one's interested they'll be developed eventually.

I'm constantly in the market for names. It's either your names are not that good or is not what I'm looking for. If I find something I like, you're most likely over charging for it. Times are not the same, prices should be reconsidered.

I'm not surprised to see your cam domain sales up because cams make money. They're interactive and there are customers that spend hundreds in one sitting...

$15 to $40 for some decent domains isn't overpriced.

You must not be in the market for teen domains I understand how the adult market is right now, but I think $15 to $40 for a domain isn't overpriced.

Would disagree somewhat with that. Mainstream is dying a bit too. Sales or clicks are not that precious as they used to be say a few years ago. Internet users seems to developed bit of blindness for ads or affiliate sales etc. Competition has also multiplied in the last few years which too is not helping. Recession did not help too. Both porn as well as mainstream are somewhat dying due to all these factors.

You just need to promote a product that is in demand, and which can not be torrented or given away for free. Versus porn, it's x100 more profitable.

totally disagree that mainstream is dying. there is a health and beauty resurgence, convergence of e-commerce sales/offers, payday loan and debt is hot, dating is hot. we recommend http://nonadult.com for mainstream action.

You recommend yourselves do ya?

Congrats on the strong sales activity lately...higher-end domains are typically the least-likely to see sales dips since they're always heavily in demand.

it's semantics, however the 2 companies are totally separate notwithstanding my personal participation in both.

back to the topic- yes- buyers who used to consider the brandable adult names are more apt to purchase logical keywords and dictionary names and established revenue sites these days. we have some $x,xxx deals in the fire right now too, so it is not 100% doom and gloom for the smaller names.

I don't think a lot of people realize how much business is actually tied to affiliate webmasters. 500 big companies in the business versus 50,000 small and medium sized businesses. Having more potential customers helps to keep prices higher. Once the customers become fewer it's easier for them to start dictating better terms.

Domains, hosting, scripting, and content are all heavily tied to the fate of the "little guy". Ironically, so is this forum.
