Whale Wars new ship the Ocean Adventurer

Hopefully this 115' ship lasts longer than the Ady Gil. The Ady Gil was 78' in length.

Thats a sweet boat ! That show is pretty awesome as well. I'd definetly prefer that to crab fishing in the blistering cold.

Yea hopefully they wont do the same thing as last year. The japanese whaler did intentionally drive over the stern but he prolly figured it would have moved but they didnt. Good Luck on their journeys people have been killing whales and such for a long time and it wont stop now.

You must not have seen the episode where the Ady Gil got sliced in two. It was out of fuel and was floating helplessly waiting for the larger ship to come refuel it. The Japanese security vessel went out of it's way to veer towards and into the much smaller Ady Gil, pretty amazing nobody was hurt seriously.

Good show... the first couple of episodes were a bit boring, but when they started ramming ships into the japanese fleet to save the whales it got exciting ;)

Hmmm, you sure you watched it because half the show was dedicated to the dilemma of the Ady Gil running low on fuel. The Bob Barker was chasing the Jap Nishan Maru along with the Ady Gil and they feared that if they stopped to refuel the Ady Gil that they would lose pursuit. So they made a decision to leave the Ady Gil behind after it ran out of fuel and the Sea Shepherd would come refuel it the next day when it reached them. It took less than hour after the Ady Gil ran out of fuel for it to get rammed and sliced in two. You can see the guys of the Ady Gil just sitting on top of their vessel.

This is the same boat that set the speed record for sailing around the world that the Ady Gil broke.

Those guys are rank amateurs and have no business being out in those waters with untrained and unexperienced crews. Nealy every episode of Whale Wars shows just how poor their planning really is. It's nothing short of a miracle they haven't suffered a massive loss of life yet. It's safe to say that is an eventuality and they're just pushing it with ever campaign. I won't shed a single tear when one of their vessels is sunk with "Captain" Paul at the helm.

Don't confuse this with me condoning Japanese Whaling because I don't. I just think a bunch of hippies floating around in dangerous waters without any real plan isn't a good idea.

yeah, you're right i got it mixed up with an episode of jersey shore where the guidos almost ran out of hair gel.

funny how the official story released by sscs and the subsequent investigation say ZERO about the ady gil being out of fuel. dead in the water, yes, out of fuel, no. in fact, the sscs goes on to say they took action to drain the vessel of remaining fuel prior to abandoning it.

but, hey, what do i know, i don't even know if i watched the show.

One thing I can never work out, they try to toss bottles of butyric acid onto the Nishan Maru without much luck. Why not drop that stuff from the Helicopter from right over them?

This vessel looks futuristic. I have never seen a vessel shape like this before. It has a sharp narrow front and 2 wings. The name Interceptor reminds me of Protoss interceptors coming out of carriers in the computer game Starcraft.

I found interesting photographs of toys made out of paper.

Origami is one of the Japanese traditional paper crafts.

I think they ought to buy an old surplus destroyer or submarine and just sink the whaling fleets.

There is no reason to continue the decimation of the largest mammals on the planet.

A lot of it comes from Hollywood. There is a reason one of their ships is named the Bob Barker.

Before you become so sure that the Sea Shepherd people are idiots, why don't you take a look at the site and find out what it is about?:

http://www.seashepherd.org/

Whaling has so reduced whale populations that some species cannot even find mates in the same ocean.

Japanese whaling:
