I love certain dubstep shit... Bassnectar and Excision and the more hardcore + dynamic shit that attends to my A.D.D. when I'm hyped and some chilled out Burial type shit for when i'm relaxing.

I take great offense to anyone calling that shit "music." That just MIGHT be more useless than rap.

I can appreciate nearly anything that requires playing an instrument.

At the moment I am listening to Eric Clapton.

You can download their new album for free, it's dope.

Interesting, in the UK dubstep is mainly liked by 18 year olds off their face on ketamine.

remember that these are supposed to be remixes using a vast array of old music/dubs/etc mixed with a bassline etc.. not much cemented in this niche and it's been fun watching it develop over the past few years

i really only prefer that guy with Cream..

Sooo, you're saying you don't need any instruments to make dubstep? What's your theory on the process? Robots make dubstep? I bet Clapton couldn't...

Computers are responsible for making most of it. It's a learned skill, not talent. There's a difference. Can any of those hacks make their racket without electricity?

FACT: If you don't play an instrument then you aren't a musician.

Then why don't they?

Newsflash for oldfags. A computer is an instrument. It is tuned for sounds, you play the sounds. A lot of them too. If anything electronic producers are more composers than musicians. Also the argument that playing a traditional instrument has more feel is a fat load of shit. You can bend pitch, warp sounds and all that nifty stuff with automation gates and shit. Beyond that a DJ/producer who plays his own tracks adds the personal touch through his mixing. It is a talent to produce a good electronic track. Sure you could teach yourself the skill of how to use the equipment, but odds are you wouldn't sound any good. If it were that easy, you wouldn't have top acts that everyone loves, because it would all be just as good. Same as the millions of guitar players who are nobodies, you need a little something extra to be successful. In summary, it's the exact same shit.

Oh brilliant one, please let me know your thesis on how notes are different when electricity is incorporated. How is playing a song on a piano different from playing a song on a MIDI keyboard? How is writing a note on a piece of paper different from writing it into a program?

The future of music anxiously awaits your passing. It's tired of listening to old fucks whining...
