Holy Fuck! Cowboys vs. Giants -- Anyone watching this??

I tuned in a bit ago to see the score, and was pleasantly surprised to see the Cowboys LEADING 26-6. Now it's 33-20, and as an Eagles fan, I'm fucking ecstatic at this score.

Did the new Dallas coach really make that much of a difference, or are the Giants imploding? I'd prefer for the Giants to be crumbling, of course. Just curious what everyone else's thoughts are...?

The Cowboys have quality players. This what they look like when they play hard.

I can't imagine that the coaching change mattered much from the aspect of coaching ability. I like Jason well enough, but he has dropped the ball a good number of times himself the last couple of years on play calling.

I think it mattered from the standpoint of maybe these guys are starting to absorb the fact that they are expendable and that they better start earning their paychecks if they'd like to keep getting one.

I know it's sort of conspiracy theory-ish, but during the game, one of the announcers said that Jason Garrett had been preparing for this day for awhile. First thing that came to my mind was that as the offensive coordinator, was Garrett sabotaging the playcalling, in order to make room for him in the coaching position? Food for thought...

I can't imagine that. If it was just about being a head coach, he turned down offers. I think that he was prepared in the sense that he knew that his time was going to come with the 'Boys. It was just a matter of when, and he intended to make the most of it when the time came.

A coaching change had a HUGE impact. It was a moral issue with the team. The team clashed with wade - that was VERY well known.

if you have unhappy players you will lose that simple

you put in a coach that can talk to the players and get them to do their job you will get some wins

As a whole, they are very talented. They are also undisciplined, and fear is a great motivator.

Well, now the players realize their job is on the line too. Firing someone has a positive effect on a team and gets ppl performing to their ability. I think the Cowboys will turn this season around. Not sure how far they will go but next season Garrett will 'officially' be the head coach. He was hired for it a long time ago, then they hired Phillips too.

That's one theory. Another is that perhaps the players themselves played crappy on purpose to get Wade Phillips axed.

Bob Costas did a quick little news update thing during the game, did you see it? In it he intimated that this would be looked into, and asked the question; "if they can play this well under the new coach, why couldn't they play this well for Wade Phillips?"

I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist of it.

Does seem like an incredibly dramatic change, and just due to a coaching change? I'm not sure what to think really.

I really don't think it was sabotage on anyone's part. I think Wade Phillips is probably a great guy. We had a winning record under him as a whole, and we actually went to the playoffs under his regime.

I also think Wade was not tough enough on them. It would be stupid for them to sabotage someone who was letting them get by with being soft. Why not win under someone like that, and keep your easy life, rather than face the prospect of someone like a Cowher?

Also doesn't make sense that Garret would do bad play calling to try to get Wade axed, because there was zero guarantee that he would get the head coach job, or that he would not be sacked under a different head coach who wanted to bring in his own person.

They are just undisciplined. Newman and Sensabaugh having a pissing match on the field is a prime example of that.

I think it was just one of those mysteries of the universe kind of thing. I don't think we played that great of a game last night, though it was sure better than it had been thus far in 2010. We still made plenty of mistakes, but at least we looked like a team that actually deserved to be in a NFL uniform.

My shining ray of hope so far is Dez. He's gonna be a superstar, and one that earns the title, not one that has a few good games like Miles Austin then gets crowned king of the world.

I also have to give kudos to Roy Williams. He seems to have taken getting with the program to heart.

way too early to tell, could be an "any given sunday" scenario, but if the new coach has truly affected the players the cowboys could at least salvage the season from complete disaster.

its another week and again a team i thought was a shoe in on the SB road (the giants) no longer look that way, or they just had a freak bad day.

this season is really nuts!
