iPad!!!
My 3 y.o. son EASILY plays Angry Birds and other games on it. Runs his flicks via VLC. Steve Jobs is genius.

My 10 month old son play some piano, tickle a bear and change butterfly colors on his. It plays lullaby's and hold family pictures. I estimate that he will find it cool and usefull until he get to 10 yo.
