Ok. OSX Lion for the MAC, is awesome.

It's been a few days since I have installed OSX Lion for the Mac, and let me just say that it is awesome, especially if you are using the Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad. In case you don't know, these multi-touch gadgets combined with OSX Lion's gesture-recognizing software work PERFECTLY together.

After a short time to get used to it, I know flick, pinch, twist and slide my fingers across the surfaces of the mouse or trackpad to navigate. I can nab between full screen apps faster than I could by moving a mouse and the strangest thing is that it feels much more natural.

PC lovers are getting seriously left behind when it comes to technology, interfaces, ease of use and stability. You really really really need to checkout a Mac!

I'm waiting a few more weeks before deciding to upgrade ...

"superior stability" what's that?
my windows are superstitiously stable just fine, i don't click tiny blind links and don't download random shit

edit: i would not engage in this convo if OP didn't bring up PC into this discussion. would just quietly read the praise and be fine with it ;)

Theo 07-27-2011 12:09 AM

I use both and like them both :thumbsup

The only time I hated windows was when some stupid site that is meant to be trustworthy (a major magazine) gave my PC a virus. One of the ones where you have to go through all the steps completely removing it yourself. Pain in the ass when something like that goes wrong!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Adam_M 07-27-2011 01:26 AM

Loving it!

Chosen 07-27-2011 01:39 AM

I don't give a fuck :pimp

Oh and get Better Touch Tool if you are liking the Lionised gestures. Takes shit to a new level.

seeandsee 07-27-2011 04:30 AM

fuck lion, i am with win7

MPGdevil 07-27-2011 08:04 AM

So I have to pay the price of two computers to get a finger swipe feature.
I think I'll save the money.

Sophie Delancey 07-27-2011 08:09 AM

I'm loving Lion! I just downloaded it last night, and I've been like a kid in a candy store with all these new features.

just a punk 07-27-2011 08:28 AM

I heard that the new Mac OS X allows one to re-size windows by puling them at ANY corner. If that's true, so my congrats to all the OS X users - now you can do the same things which were available in Windows 3.xx :pimp Cool system, really :thumbsup

Wow, you're completely missing the point, but alright.

96ukssob 07-27-2011 10:02 AM

im thinking of upgrading on my macbook pro but dont use it all that much to really care to spend the money.

i use a desktop more, its a PC but sooner or later will replace it with a mac tower

cheekycherry 07-27-2011 10:06 AM

I bought the new air today.

The f key is slanty.

It's going back tomorrow.

Still, fuck pc's.

Horny Dude 07-27-2011 10:51 AM

Macs are cool, bit I still think they are overpriced. Everything for a Mac is expensive.

margarita 07-27-2011 11:34 AM

I don't really need to use OS. I don't use it. I just need it to do dirty job at background. What I really need are applications. Why would I buy overpriced PC and limit myself to fraction of applications and games? (also overpriced)

input 07-27-2011 11:47 AM

are snow leopard apps compatible?
I always normally wait ~3 months before upgrading, but this upgrade seems to be more drastic re compatibility?

you'll love it - got my i7 bto 27" imac 19 months ago and it's the best I've ever had - as fast and reliable as the first day I got it, which has never before happened on a 19-mo computer....

Zorgman 07-27-2011 05:19 PM

Input, yes... seems like the imac will help me with my Cinema4D animations.
Imac 27", 3.4Ghz i7, 16GB Ram, 2TB HD, 2GB graphics - about $3000. Pretty expensive but considering macs hold their value pretty well compared to PC's.
Looking forward to using thunderbolt in the near future with more monitors.

2MuchMark 07-27-2011 05:42 PM

Hi Zorgman, Question for you.

I saw today on Apple.com that they have a new monitor that connects via the Thunderbolt port, and it looks like you can actually daisy-chain monitors together - am I reading that right?

If I cared about price, I would not own a Mac.

What I care about is quality, stability, and performance.

I've owned high end PC laptops for 15 years and not one of them can even come close to my MacBook pro. I preached PC this PC that and dissed Macs for years....Then I actually bought one and discovered the error of my ways.

very wrong.I bet many people who are now hardcore scientologists didn't like it before too. That doesnt mean one is right after making a "switch".

I'm keeping my pc, it gives me everything i need for less price.PCs give you quality, stability, and performance just like macs.(macs are pcs anyway but lets ignore this fact) Days of constant crashes and viruses are long over since SP2 came out for XP.And that was ,what,10 years ago? with win 7 there really is nothing to complain about anymore..

AaronM 07-27-2011 08:10 PM

There is no right or wrong. Only opinions based on experiences. I've experienced both worlds and continue to use a Windows 7 based PC as my desktop which will eventually be replaced with a Mac when the time comes. My opinions are based on personal experiences from both platforms as well as years of running a business building custom PC's.

You think your opinion is based on better facts/experiences than mine? So be it.

seeric 07-27-2011 08:58 PM

Best move I ever made. MacBook Air for the win! I will never touch a PC again.

Yes, That's how I understand it too. I think off a thunderbolt connection you can split it up for extra monitors because it's so fast.

Very well said Aaron. People get pretty defensive.

Apple is kicking everyone's ass in the PC world and Windows users just hate that.

It was amazing to see 800 people lined up a couple of weeks ago for our town's Apple store grand opening, and for what? Just to be the first ones to go in. They didn't have a sale or anything. People just love the Mac products and the Apple brand. It's awesome.
