Stay away from securedservers !
A guy who I help with admin work runs a decent sized tube site. He was hosted at securedservers, received an abuse complaint, handled it then received this email. Just warning anyone else there.
#################### While we appreciate your decision to choose Secured Servers as your IT infrastructure provider, we regret to inform you that we must immediately cancel your account and remove public access to your servers. The complaint we have received for your site regarded child pornography. Due to the sensitive nature of these complaints we will be deactivating this account immediately. Due to regulations placed on us, we are required to hold the hard drive without any changes made or being accessed of any sort to maintain the evidence of the infringement and you will not be able to retrieve your data. Please understand that this decision is final #################### |
Was it actual CP or just some "teen" stuff?
|
oh vey!.... not happy to read this at all

I don't host adult at SecuredServers anymore, but this is still kind of troubling. I hope they looked into this a little before just cutting off access. I have a feeling there's something more with this situation. Did they tell you what content was the problem? |

Cave Creek = Secured Servers = PhoenixNap = CCBill

I really hope they did look into this issue and determined that indeed CP was involved because I have 2 servers set up and have spent a fuck load of time getting them setup... as well as money |
|
That's pretty fucking hurting. That suggests someone could upload CP to a site, inform SecuredServers about it and they will immediately take the box offline and deny you access to your files?

i find it hard to believe that they would just terminate your account like that without there actually being something suspect there lets see |

Anyway, Securedservers is ok if you can manage your own server. Sure it's cheap but they don't always know what they're doing. I had one of my small servers offline for 18 hours or so because they insisted an issue was on my end. After a little back and forth with them I got a reply: Quote:
There was finally some real checking done and they responded with: Quote:
That said, I'd love to hear the full story on this. I bet there's a LOT more going on than the OP would have us believe. |

Securedservers isn't really an appropriate name. Cheapservers maybe, or fastservers might be accurate

I emailed mark but no response yet
So I've been with securedservers for about 4-5 months. i run a gay porn tube site on it, which has grown in traffic. I prepay some ad space on it. Over the past few weeks I've been getting abuse complaints, I've had around 3. Each time I have responded and removed the videos within 24 hours, somtimes even after a few hours 2 days ago I found my site was unreachable, so I emailed them and I got that email. I don't have any backup, so my site is effectively dead as a doormouse. Child pornography is a bit strong in my opinion. The videos I was asked to remove, they did look quite young, but nothing you dont see on tons of other tube sites. Most of my tube contained 2 minute sponsor clips, so the amateur videos did stick out like a sore thumb... To kill my site without notice is very harsh in my opinion. Imagine if they did this to xvideos.. I've seen horse porn etc on that site.. and the 3 abuse complaints within quick succession points me to believe that someone is targetting my site |
I guess the matter would be more serious. Was the content copyrighted ? or was it amateur ?
|
man, was that removed videos under 2257? was that from some paysite? if yes, tell securedservers to get your site back asap, as i bet you are losing money and they are the ones who shut your business down ... if those videos arent under 2257, doesnt matter where everywhere they are, they are looking young, there is no 2257, they are young, nothing else to solve then, just be nice and ask nicely if they can give you backup. have luck, and, lesson learned :winkwink:

Which is typically fair all things considered. There are others out there more harsh. |

another securedservers success story.
|
I know the site in question, this was a regular gay tube site, and gay tube sites typically have alot more active communities in terms of amateur user uploads in comparison to straight sites. This was not a CP site by any means...if it was, I would understand the action completely. I'm sure CP has been uploaded to youtube, flickr, imgur, etc tens of thousands of times.
Besides that, ton's of webmasters I know get emails like "Hey my boyfriend filmed this can you take it down? i was only 16 when he did it..." etc, and many of those emails are BS with the model having second thoughts about her porn career. |

Why didn't he mention this in the first place when blaiming people? And why could the uploader still upload? Had he verified in advance they where okay with this business model? He said everything was dealt with within 24 hours, but the 24 hour grace period isn't that just copyright notices? Did not think it would cover possible cp where you several places in the world can get thrown to jail for insinuating cp... It would be cool if when something is taken to the board they give the full story, when leaving something out they probably have a reason for that and its usually not in their favour. |

they should be okay with the business model, as they host another site for 1yr+ with the exact samesort of content... The guy must of uploaded the 3 videos before the 1st abuse complaint, and all the videos contained the same watermark, so perhaps he was trying to get some traffic to his site with it |
ok i got all info needed, thank you, i stay away of securedservers :2 cents:

no response from corvette yet.

If I was you I would probably consult with a lawyer in your own country and ask them how you should deal with situations where there is possible illegal content being uploaded. Else you will probably at one point ending up spending minimum a few days locked up somewhere. In a situation like this it doesn't matter what everybody else does even if innocent, you can't claim ignorance in a situation like that if you are dealing with the law. You can probably get a good legal memorandum and legal guide on how to run your business for 5K or less depending on who you consult with, if you wait for someone to knock on your door which it appears you do then you are just asking for it and it will cost you at least 10 times more :2 cents: |
