prefer this: https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm and this http://strongpasswordgenerator.com/

What if this site is actually in place to farm passwords so people can generate rainbow tables to crack your passwords later? You enter your password, they store it and create several encrypted copies to compare strings to on other sites later.
|
I will never put my passwords in there. I don't even know any by heart. I use a different one for everything, and I use this to create them: http://www.pctools.com/guides/password/ <--crank it up to like 25 then change the last 5 afterwards because I'm paranoid.

Common Password: In the top 10 most used passwords Your password is very commonly used. It would be cracked almost instantly. |
LastPass FTW
|
I just use my first name, all lowercase. I probably won't forget that.
|
Which one? I use a different one for every service i use.

Hmmm... giving a strange site your password doesn't sound like such a great idea. It can read all kinds of details about your computer, drop cookies and could even have malware. The collection of passwords they collect could then be easily sorted into a most-common password list, or the passwords could then be stolen. If they had links to other sites that offered any kind of sign up, they could correlate your password / cookie / ip address with the links you clicked and then make a fairly good bet that you used the same or similar password.
|
they should at least install some SSL to pretend to care about your security
|
Sure let me give this site my passwords which in turn could allow them to download some sort of keylogging java onto my computer and track everything I log into.
Not in 100 testillion years |
About 19 untrigintillion years
to hack your password |
If you are putting your real passwords in there... there is no hope for you at all.
|
I hope no one is putting there real password in there, just putting the same amount of characters will do the same thing :thumbsup

Think pass PHRASE. Most of the security is in LENGTH. Throwing in some punctuation doesn't make as big of a difference, and l33t speak is virtually worthless - the haxor wannabes INVENTED 3 = E.
