I passed by one in Hollywood about an hour ago. Bunch of news trucks there and people holding signs. Huge crowd there but also lots of people buying food. Drive thru's were packed all the way down the street.....

As I was walking out a guy reading a Bible said, "I hope they are getting more business than normal."

I told him I don't eat the stuff, so can't be sure, but it seems like it. He said he never had before but would now.

scuba steve 08-01-2012 02:10 PM

heard they have had a lot of support and business down here at them

DWB 08-01-2012 02:14 PM

Why? I didn't get the Chick-Fil-A memo.

topsiteking 08-01-2012 02:16 PM

No...I care about my body.

seeric 08-01-2012 02:18 PM

Where are the protesters?

LeRoy 08-01-2012 02:31 PM

Yah I think all the bible thumpers are coming out of the woodwork to eat there.

Protesters? Are there supposed to be protesters too? There is a gay day on the 3rd, that's all I heard.

directfiesta 08-01-2012 02:36 PM

Damn,the people are stupid ... :

Eat shit to protest against gays,
empty wine bottles to protest against France .

Talk about stupid; you are assuming they are all there to protest gays. I know for a fact that is not the case. :2 cents:

The Chik-fil-a's in Columbia and Annapolis, MD are like that every day at lunch. They send someone through the drive-thru cars to take orders and radio them in so things move quicker.

Those two locations know how to move people though. Even with lines like that the longest you'd wait was 6 or 7 minutes.

epitome 08-01-2012 03:41 PM

Interesting fact: Chik-fil-a has the highest per-store revenue of any fast food restaurant. It beats McDonald's and everything else.

As I walked over I passed by a guy that was eating in his truck. He said he waited 40 minutes today. I imagine the wait got longer before it got shorter.

I wonder the odds of having to close early because they sell out.

I prefer El Pollo Loco myself, they went out of business by me. The thing about this thing that makes me crazy, people keep talking about freedom of speech. We are standing up for the owners freedom of speech. Freedom of speech protects you from the gov throwing you in jail for speaking out. Not for people not going to have chicken.

Colmike9 08-01-2012 04:16 PM

If people only knew what crazy shit a lot of other CEOs do and their true values...
(Adult parties that I go to are full of CEOs, doctors, lawyers, etc. and easily make the Chick-Fil-A guy seem irrelevant)..

I don't know why they replaced our El Pollo Loco with a Chick-fil-A. EPL always had a lot of business . . . . probably not as much as CFA, but still. I'll eat grilled chicken, I would eat deep fried processed meat. I really went there for the churros.

MaDalton 08-01-2012 04:30 PM

i'll never get what gays and chicken have to do with each other

seriously - i always hear about free speech, free market, freedom to own guns etc. - but when 2 guys or 2 girls decide to love each other everyone goes nuts. this is weird.

I "think" the issue [to some] is that he believes in traditional marriage and donates his money to groups that think the same way.

MaDalton 08-01-2012 04:41 PM

in Greece it was tradition to fuck underage boys - so if we always stuck to traditions...

I wonder if he funded groups to make divorce illegal which would protect traditional marriage more. Would there be lines around the block supporting them.

The problem is that religion is taken way too seriously, even though we're supposed to separate church and state.. :Oh crap

It probably wouldn't be as big an issue if he'd only donated his own money, but he donated corporate funds to support an anti-gay agenda.

Are there groups like that? I would guess they would support him if there was some group that was against them.

It is a privately owned company. It is his money, not stockholders. :2 cents:

Who did he donate funds to? What's the organization? Does anyone know?

tony286 08-01-2012 05:36 PM

Evangelicals have the highest divorce rates of all religions in the US 34%. Now I really dont care about his opinion one way or another but when they talk about being against gay marriage because marriage is sacred and keeping it traditional and the bible says etc etc. Then to me if marriage is so special and blessed by God, the first move would be to make divorce illegal. But there wouldn't be big support for that like picking on the gays.

I clicked on the organizations...and they are all charities that he and his wife started themselves. I didn't see anything anti-gay anywhere.

Am I missing something?

By the way...I'm 100% pro-gay-marriage. I think it's dumb to tell two people in love they can't get married.

But I must be missing something in this story. It just sounds to me like the owner of Chik Fil A believes in superstitions (religion) and is a bit bigoted in his views (probably reflective of the majority of sexually repressed people in the U.S.)

But I'm not seeing where he or his company have ever done anything "anti-gay". What am I missing here?

It appears to me that the religious nuts and leftists nuts are both trying to make something out of nothing.

Among the many groups to receive donations through Chick-fil-A's WinShape Foundation, which was created by Chick-fil-A founder and chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1984, were the Marriage & Family Foundation ($1,188,380), Exodus International ($1,000) and the Family Research Council (also $1,000), Equality Matters reported.

Go look at those groups sites.

Didn't see one for "marriage and family foundation"

I looked at the "Exodus" one. Didn't really see anything out of the ordinary there either.
I kept looking for something "extreme"...but nothing there that isn't being preached in a million churches every Sunday.

What exactly is all the controversy about? Again...I'm thinking that we have two factions who are trying to gain publicity for themselves over a whole lot of nothing.
