Humans changed the entire landscape and produced things that wouldn't otherwise be here. No way that could affect the earth and her climate. Remember the ice age? What kind of cars were those people driving? See, there is no global warming; It's cold outside.

What's that about cow farts? Bovine domesticated specifically for human consumption is the argument against humans causing climate change?

brassmonkey 01-16-2015 07:24 PM

shit its winter here and we are in the 80's. in the 90's it would be cold as hell. halloween 2014 it was warm. :( its just not right and most of the bugs are dead. im down to 5 bee hives i need to build up to 100 by spring to rent out for the season.

Rochard 01-16-2015 08:44 PM

I call bullshit. It was the hottest year on record since.... 1852? It had to happen sooner or later.

Joshua G 01-16-2015 09:16 PM

relax. we will warm the earth. but we are adaptable animals. The problem is down the road, when the singularity renders people cavemen to the emerging race of machines. At that point those fuckers wont give 2 shits about the climate & will happily keep pumping up the temp. No problem for them. problem for us.

:2 cents:

You're kind of right there. If there is not a constant trend, it is irrelevant.

2013 average
2014 hottest ever
2015 average

That's as much proof as being cold is disproof.

AmateurBros 01-16-2015 09:22 PM

Global warning is a fact.

That we have anything to do with it though, is complete bullshit. We're at the end of an ice age -- what the happens when there's less and less ice?...shit gets warmer.

I know they're intelligent because they used 'eviscerate'.

Humans are too ignorant to stop arguing and do something to help themselves. Did you know trees caused climate change in the past? Decomposing trees that released huge amounts of carbon dioxide. Does it really matter who or what is causing the changes now? Fix it if it can be fixed or shut up and focus on something important.

Not in Toronto it wasn't. Was the coldest winter i can remember and i am 36. The summer was not too warm either. Think i turned on my AC 3 or 4 times all summer. Normally Toronto is hot as fuck from may to sept.

hell, back in the 80's there were many halloweens that were warm like a summer day. One halloween that I remember I was 11 and it was +26C. This was back in 1985. This whole global warming shit is just that.. Shit! the planet goes through its own cycles with temps.

why is it only in the united states they deny it is happening? for the rest of the world man made climate change is as accepted as evolutionary theory.

because we are more concerned with actions and not rhetoric.

This week, European Parliament put a dagger in the Continent?s carbon cap-and-trade system.

Rather than choosing to reduce the number of emission credits in the system to better reflect the economic slowdown, Parliament voted to keep carbon cheap?real cheap. As a result, the price of carbon in recent days traded for as little as ?3 ($3.92) per metric ton, compared with ?25 in 2008. This means that eight years after Europe?s emissions-trading system began, with the intention of making it far more expensive to pollute the air, doing so is now about as cheap as it?s ever been.

Meanwhile, the U.S. cut its energy-related carbon dioxide emissions by 12 percent from 2007 to 2012, according to data released on April 5 by the Energy Information Agency. At 5.2 billion metric tons, the U.S. is now emitting the least amount of energy-related CO2 since 1994. Not bad, especially compared with Europe, which reduced its carbon emissions by 8 percent from 2005 to 2011.

USA takes the lead as per usual.

How and Why U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions Are Falling
Recent data clarify the trends causing emissions to shrink to their lowest level since 1995.

By Mike Orcutt on May 6, 2014

WHY IT MATTERS

Greenhouse gas emissions, in the U.S. and elsewhere, need to come down significantly by 2020 to avoid the worst consequences of climate change.

Greenhouse gas emissions in the United States fell to their lowest level in 17 years in 2012, according to a new report from the Environmental Protection Agency. Additional data from the U.S. government show why: the trend is largely the result of a rapid drop in coal-fired electricity, and a corresponding rise in electricity generated by cleaner fuels, especially natural gas.

The picture is less encouraging globally.

Although a report by Reuters shows that greenhouse gas emissions in industrialized nations fell by 1.3 percent in 2012, with the biggest drop being seen in the United States, energy-related carbon dioxide emissions still rose 1.4 percent worldwide that year, according to a recent report by the International Energy Agency.

dyna mo 01-17-2015 11:47 AM

the amount of electricity generated from wind and solar power has increased more than 950 percent in the U.S. since 2005. Wind and solar also now account for a significant portion of new electricity generation capacity added each year.

Deny what is happening? A little bit of warming? Nobody denies that. I think what some people deny is that it is, or will be, as big a problem that some claim it to be. There are also many serious doubts about whether or not it is wholly or partially a man made problem and whether or not we can do anything to stop it.

Using the acceptance of evolutionary theory as a comparison for the acceptance of man made climate change doesn't really bolster your point very well since a large portion of the world does not accept evolutionary theory.

A tree, when it is alive, absorbs CO2 from the air and puts it in the ground. Trees live for decades and even hundreds of years, absorbing CO2 for its entire life.

When a tree dies, it releases some CO2, but left alone, it slowly sinks into the ground like other biomass. Much of the oil we burn today is from plants and trees, not dinosaurs.

When a tree is burned, it releases all of its stored CO2 into the air at once. Deforestation dumps millions of tonnes of CO2 into the air, and makes that space useless for further CO2 absorption in the future.

Think "Average".

Nasa and Noaa says that Planet earth is on average, 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degrees Celsius), than it was in 1880, when temperature record keeping began.

Of course you will have colder days and warmer days, but the average of the entire planet, is now 1.4 F warmer.

Right-wing lie machine, left-wing lie machine. Who to believe?

Regardless, your labeling of a source as a "right-wing lie machine" does not necessarily invalidate the points it contains. The satellite data, which is more accurate than ground based data, does not agree that 2014 is the warmest year on record.

Much of that is greatly oversimplified and/or just plain wrong.

So what? That is a good thing to most rational people. Would you rather it be 1.4 degrees cooler and return us to the conditions of the Little Ice Age? Warmer is preferable to colder.

The EPA has little to do with the decrease in the US. Most of the decrease is due to decreased economic activity and the increased use of natural gas over coal. Though I suppose the EPA can take credit for much of the decrease in economic activity.

China has plenty of real environmental problems that it should be focusing on before ever worrying about reducing GHG emissions. But because of people like you they get a pass on the nasty shit as long as they say they are going to reduce CO2.

Blah, blah, blah - always with the "greenhouse gas emissions" bullshit. You are a broken record brainwashed to repeat the same crap over and over.

As long as you don't mind paying the costs of carbon footprint reduction in every product that you buy ...

My utility bill shows a charge equal to 2% for "energy efficiency" what ever the hell that is. Every product you buy requires some form of energy to grow, manufacture or process, distribute and dispose of as waste.

It would not surprise me if the average household is spending $400 to $2,000 on these related costs.

What will the additional costs be to the USA, Canada, the EU? Some of the natural resource exporting countries have especially large carbon footprints. Then there all all the peasants of the world that burn wood for cooking and heating. How will they pay? They cannot afford modern lowered carbon energy. How will the Chinese pay with the high emission transportation and utility industry fuels in use?

We cannot save half the world from a global event.

That folk is not a problem regarding the cooking part. You know, the emissions are not that much.

And there is not that much "paying", unless you mean the "opportunity cost". As for starters not everything can be solved with money.

Yes, read what Mark wrote on the subject. The event I'm referring to happened long before human existence. My memory fails me. I saw it on the newer Cosmos series.

It might be an important argument for the sake of knowledge. But, doing something about it could be very important for the sake of future generations. That knowledge is worthless without anyone to share it with. It seems these days people only want to argue instead of acting.

But if the trees decomposed, there has been some even that caused those to die? Shouldn't that event be counted as a responsible too, or as the main reason?

Yes, right they died and rotted for a reason. I wish I could remember the details. I don't care who or what is the cause. My point was co2 levels go up if a massive amount of trees are removed and turned back into their base elements.

I can't say that I study this or even pay attention when people are talking about it. I just notice lots of people arguing and not much being done. It seems pointless to me.

Okay, I got the picture that some regular decomposition changed climate (without some major event). Like early grasses did.
