How do you deal with loneliness ?
Past 12 months, working from home, not going to the office, zoom calls, no happy hours to catch up with friends or co-workers....I have been spending a lot of time at strip clubs but it's getting expensive.
I started going back to the gym...7 PM to 9 PM daily and it's helping me. I do not talk to anyone at gym, but being with a group helps. How do you deal with this issue? PS: I am thinking of getting a dog, never had a dog in my life, don't know if its a good or bad idea. |

Get a dog, it will change your life!
Talk to friends, go to the gym, get a dog, ride out the wave of aloneness. We're all in the same boat bud. :) Hang in there! |

Hugs Jay. Even though you cannot tolerate what I say at the nerfed place, hugs to you. Dogs are great. They are a lot of work and they die too soon but they will touch your soul in ways you’ve never believed possible. I’m a bulldog guy but they are alot of work and pricey with vets. Get a healthy breed if you do. |
We got two kittens, 5 fish, and a parakeet. Believe me, it made a huge difference to my son and to my wife.

Yeah a pet is usually always a good first choice. As long as it doesn't become just a 'novelty. The shelters here are full to the brim with cats and dogs that people got during lockdown but now don't want because some 'normality' is back again. Sickening to be honest...

Practice self-kindness. In difficult moments, it's essential to practice self-kindness.
Capitalize on the present moment. Connect in real life. Rethink how you spend your spare time. Do more things with people. Be active online. Share for real online. |
Agree on the pet part - they make a difference.
Besides that:

I have a fiancee and 2 cats, I am never alone. I would kill for some personal space atm. Wanna switch? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
But as others have said... get a pet. They love you unconditionally and never talk back to you :thumbsup |
Just keep your mind occupied and you wont even notice it.

I've got 5 kids, wife - 2 cats - 2 rabbits - guinea pigs and a dog.
Thing is finding ways to keep them all amused and not have cabin fever. We've gone fishing, horse back riding, bike riding, forest walks, trampoline in backyard helps with pool, and I make sure every day they get hugs and know we're there and love them. We've been in lock down (Ontario) pretty much for a year now occasionally a few weeks when schools open then they shut again. I daily think of some dad joke for each of them for laughter and at night I listen to music. It's difficult but necessary |
Staying at home is not good for our body and mind.. I do to work every day, do not live with stress and panic. Just go out and relaxed

I've ignored the covid hype and continued life as normal. Several trips across the county, diner parties with friends, and going to our regular restaurants at least weekly.

Come to Mexico. many people here working online. Everything is open, but in stores mouthmask. Most restaurants has a terrace and space to sit outside. Gym is open and also a gym on the beach. I rent a nice apartment in condominium with swimming pool. A Dutch friend also went here and scored many woman on tinder that where looking for a hug. Also looks if all web cam babes and escort girls landed here.
Get out, don´t let them take more years of your life. And just be careful. I have many times stray cats around. To difficult to travel with animals. When i finally stay somewhere there will probably a stray cat looking for a home. And maybe a dog, more for protection. Cats are always nice, some dogs are really fucked. I took care of 2 dogs, i said i would never do it again. It was a killer machine i was responsible for. The bulldog was nicer, only killed complete coconuts. |
Don't fill the void . . . embrace the void.

I've been working from home since 2007 or so. I don't have my work day interrupted with silly problems, issues, and distractions. Years ago before adult I worked in a large insurance office and this one woman I worked with had a husband who was constantly in and out of jail and every day she was just drama.
I love working from home. I have a wife and a kid, and a puppy dog that follows me around all day long. |
All extremely solid ^ advice on south.... how's Deja Vu (probably could recruit beautifully out there I suppose..
(still closed or what) I wanted to go but heard there isnt a single comparable spot. had a dirty very deserted drive once to Baja, if you want to have good XXX and have some photography skills it's one of the better places in Mexico i have seen.. wish a helpful photographer helped make some cool desert xxx breeds with gorgeous solid latina ladies Edit: I want to retire my fucking go pro and only use it for ocean and underwater xxx. |
Seriously I got the gopro to watch old surf drops and make cool video.
|
get busy with a hobby, that will help
|
Cats... Lots of cats.
|
I'm an introvert. I have my wife and my dog and that is all I need. In that respect, the pandemic has been very easy on me. The only thing I miss is going to restaurants, and I don't miss that much at all.

Dogs help a lot. I have my Chihuahua sitting on my lap right now while working.
Keep the windows open as much as you can for sunlight and fresh air. While the gym is a big help going for a walk will feel even better. ( Use the wide open spaces of Connecticut ( movie refrence )) Talk with friends and family when you can. |
books, friends, music, sex, cats, in no particular order. my place is nicer than the housing of most of my friends so pretty much every night I have a friend or three crash, esp with covid curfew of 8pm makes no sense for peeps to go home. my cats like them so all good. 3am swims as long as we're quiet, and I don't have to go out to get laid
since I left my marriage and I'm out on my own I pushed all my furniture to the corners of the room to create a big dancefloor. that really helps as well I would fucking sell my soul to get a mom hug right now though, haven't seen her in over a year. whatsapp calls are not an adequate substitute |

I'm usually not a phone person, but I've made the effort to get on chat or Zoom or the phone to catch up with people I'd normally hope to see IRL.
Oh and I get overly emotionally involved with fictional characters on streaming television. I don't recommend this, just a side effect of the weird semi isolation. |
I would like 2 get a dog, but I'm afraid I may eat it in my sleep if I wake up feeling peckish... :(
|
Walking outdoors helps a lot I find (not just at the gym), it's been 13+ months of living alone and not having seen anyone or gone to any events or indoor dining. Keeping busy with work but its definitely paying its toll on mental health.

I'm loving this shit but lately I've had to make the grocery store trips once a week. Tank of gas lasts me for months.
