Won't fly IMHO. Wernher von Braun is dead. We both know it was not the US Moon program. It was a German Nazi one. You may try to argue like "but wait, the first man at the Moon was a US citizen!"

Man, the first survived live creatures in space were Soviet dogs Belka and Strelka. So the phrases "American Moon program" and "Doggy space program" are absolutely equal :2 cents:

To sum it up: Soviet commies used dogs for their space program. German Nazis used Americans for their Moon program. Actually Nazis used not just Americans as a labor and experimental mouses for their project. They also used the American money.

Of course they've been there. But the same way as Soviet Belka and Strelka dogs. So when we speak about the Space program, it was totally won by the Soviet Union: first Sputnik, first dogs and only after that, a first man in the outer space (both inside a spaceship and outside). As about the Moon program so it doubtfully has a single winner because:

1) The first pictures of the Moon's "dark side": Luna-3 robot sent by the Soviet Union.
2) The first successful Moon landing: Luna-9 robot sent by the Soviet Union.
3) The first samples of the lunar soil: Luna-24 robot sent by the Soviet Union.
4) The first human at the Moon: American citizens sent by German Nazis (von Braun was an SS officer).

These are known facts nobody should argue with and there is no 100% winner in the Moon race... as you can see.

ZTT 03-15-2022 01:54 AM

They've been saying they're going "back" for at least twenty years now, because with each passing decade it becomes more and more obvious that they never went in the first place. Eg:

https://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/01/14/bush.space/ - ambitious plan to return Americans to the moon by 2020

https://www.theatlantic.com/science/...n-2024/585880/ - return Americans to the lunar surface in 2024

The reason for this new pantomime is probably because next month is the 50th anniversary of Apollo 16, and December is the 50th anniversary of Apollo 17, and people will quite rightly be asking how could we put men on the Moon every six months half a century ago, while fighting a one trillion dollar war, but no country on Earth has even attempted to do it since.

Amusing, but what? We had Wernher von Braun? So a bunch of poor uneducated Russians took the Nazi-made V-2 and used it to make their space rocket faster than the original V-2 designer did that with support of all those US technologies and money? In a country which was not touched by war? How come? :upsidedow

But both countries used Nazis, as stated in the links I posted.

"In October 1946 the Soviets transferred the German missile engineers working for them to a special research facility near Moscow, where they were forced to remain until the mid-1950s."

Perhaps because it was a war rocket, not a space rocket.

Only in The United States of America could somebody as moronic as brassmonkey make nearly 70,000 posts of absolute stupidity over the course of 17 years while using high speed internet and sitting in a climate controlled building.

I hope he realizes how truly lucky he really is. Seriously, someone should contact Guinness World Records and see if he qualifies for a world record.

My post here is for all the Americans who are not so well traveled ...

There is a large percentage of intelligent / highly educated people living outside of the United States who question if the US landed on the moon or if Hollywood movie magic made it all appear to be real. Let's not forget there are documentaries produced by Americans, and featuring Americans that suggest the moon landing never in fact happened.

The skepticism is justified.

Actually, please don't buy it, brassmonkey. I don't want to have to give you tech support. Losing my sanity is not worth the 79 bucks.

Then why did you ask?

Yeah, building a CMS from scratch in 3 months over 13 years ago wasn't the easiest task. It sure did spawn lots of copycats though. Still in business, unlike many who have come and gone over the years.

I don't know about the moon landing, but as an American who has traveled abroad more than probably 90% of Americans, I can say with 100% certainty, it is an absolute travesty on mankind that people like brassmoney are given the opportunities so many deserving others will never be given in their lifetimes.

Hi Lloyd, honestly I am on the fence about it, simply because I wasn't there.

As an American, I hope that its true, and that we did indeed make it to the moon.
I just find it very odd, that in the years that followed, we never revisited. :2 cents:

Regardless of what you may think of BrassMonkey (BM love the avatar BTW), and his or her contributions to this forum, there are far too many people :helpme that are worse. And with 69K posts we can deduct that BrassMonkey clearly has a lot of time on his or her hands :1orglaugh, we do not know as fact that he or she has A/C. While living in the Palm Springs area, where it can reach 117 F, I learned that local building codes require heating but not A/C. J.C., looks like I have been spending way too much time on here as well :2 cents:.

Everybody used Nazis. For example only in Soviet Union more than a million of Germans (Nazis and just soldiers) were working to labor camps.

But we are not talking about Nazis. We are talking about Wernher von Braun - a single man worth a billion or regular Nazis. And he was behind the co-called American space program including the Moon program as well.

Every historically significant person (bad or evil) had thousands of helpers (e.g. Napoleon, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, von Braun, Tesla, Korolev etc) but those helpers are nothing w/o one single key man that gathered them together and managed the whole project...

Lloyd,I just reread my original post, and immediately realized I wrote the "never revisited" in error. Worse I have no idea where that came from. I must of had something else on my mind. Thanks for catching it.

Just as there was multiple countries working on the project, including my sisters father-in-law, who died last year here in Aus. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205873/

skepticism is propaganda from the jealous and limp dicked Ruski, who now wont be able to afford a bus fare to Moscow let alone a rocket to the moon.

Apparently the flag is just white now anyway, or disintegrated, or has fallen over. Or all three.

Anyway, here's a timeline of how photographs of the Moon have developed over the centuries:

19th century:
https://i.imgur.com/8twUFmR.jpeg

20th century:
https://i.imgur.com/DXz4giv.jpeg

21st century:
https://i.imgur.com/AbzylqP.jpeg

The JPEG below shows the Apollo Guidance Computer read-only 'rope memory'. It had 72KB of storage. That is less than the size of the JPEG:

https://i.imgur.com/lTLOTWG.jpeg

In the history of mankind, is there any other giant leap that is not developed upon, despite huge technological advancements and innovation in every field, and the leap is never even attempted by anyone else?

I can tell BM is indeed an elderly male, as Sarah of Zuzana Designs posted a photo of them two several years ago here on gfy. He lives outside Phoenix (Goodyear), AZ and I would be willing to bet his dwelling requires air conditioning by law. Again, only in the USA could somebody with a room temperature IQ live as comfortably as he does.
