Life is grand...You help somebody and......

So last night my Friend Donna and I were leaving the mall when this 16 year old girl asks for change to use the phone. I hand her my cell phone so she can call her mother. Her mother refuses to pick her up or offer any kind of assistance for her to get home.

At this point, Donna suggests that we can give her a ride.

Off we go....

Now...The girl fails to tell us that the house that she is directing us to is not her home but her boyfriends....Who happens to live on a hill. Keep in mind that Portland is covered in a sheet of ice.

Long story short.....At one point, we start to slide backwards and there's no way I can control or stop us. We continued to pick up speed until we slammed into the sidewalk sideways. That slowed us down a little but we were still sliding. In the rear view mirror, I see a truck.

Yeah...It was not cool.

So we slammed into this brand new GMC Yukon while the owner was standing right there watching. We were the second car to hit the Yukon yesterday.

At this point, my Jeep was stuck on the sidewalk. No matter what we did, we could not move it. Right now, my Jeep is still up on that hill. It's been there all night. I can't help but wonder how many more people have done the same thing and smashed my ride up even more. :(

In about 5 hours the streets should be clear enough for me to check it out. Pics to follow.

Thankfully I have insurance.

myjah 01-16-2005 11:42 AM

I hate ice and I hate cold weather. Glad everyone is okay - sounds like you all could have been hurt badly.

Yeah, I think I'll remind my insurance agent of that when they take the $500 deductible. :(

The little bitch should have gone home where it was flat instead of having me take her to her boyfriends house. OH...But she said her mom would pay for the damages....Riiiiight. :thumbsup

TurboAngel 01-16-2005 11:46 AM

No good deed goes unpunished.

pxxx 01-16-2005 11:46 AM

It is a good thing tha you helped.

Smurfette 01-16-2005 11:46 AM

Sorry to hear that - hope the girl don't try to sue you for whiplash or anything as well :(

But I die laughing at the news when they show how people drive in the states when there is ice and snow, there is a local show here that makes fun of american peoples driving.
But I also died laughing when Toronto called a state of emergency when they had that snow a few years ago!!

I hate ice and snow but I don't mind driving in it. If I had known the hill that I was in for then I would have avoided it.

Karma will come back and help you out down the road...

WarChild 01-16-2005 11:53 AM

Bad deal. Luckily, like you said, you have insurance. Glad you're okay.

RayVega 01-16-2005 12:00 PM

Sorry to hear it, that really sucks. I hope the good karma from helping the girl outweighs the cost and grief of the accident...it usually does, life just works that way.

Magg 01-16-2005 12:02 PM

Cant wait for the pics!

Peaches 01-16-2005 12:05 PM

That was very nice of you to help her, Aaron, but I have to wonder what was going through the mind of a 16 year old girl where she got into a car with a stranger! Not that you're STRANGE, mind you ;) but she didn't know you. :(

RRACY 01-16-2005 12:06 PM

It's fortunate nobody was hurt. :)

It was that or freeze overnight in the mall parking lot. But yeah...I know what you're saying.

I forgot to mention that I also had my dog with me. The little fucker bulled me down the hill like I was a sled. Then he chewed his leash off so he does not get to go for a walk today.

Very uncool.

Rictor 01-16-2005 12:11 PM

No good deed goes unpunished.

Insurance will take care of it but they might raise your premium a little. Probably not too much since it sounds like a minor accident. Have a big accident where you injure a few people or get injured yourself and the bastards will cancel it on you then you'll pay 10 times as much as the new company.

I was thinking that, too....we know Aaron; but, she didn't.

I'm just glad Aaron had another woman in the car so the bitch didn't think about calling the cops on his cute ass.....

Sometimes life really pisses me off with its ironies. I bet if it was someone forcing her into the car holding her for ransom or some shit then they would have gotten to where they needed to go without a problem.

D Flower 01-16-2005 12:20 PM

Sorry to hear about your accident - that totally sucks! Good thing you have insurance though.

nico-t 01-16-2005 12:39 PM

wargames 01-16-2005 12:59 PM

That fucking sucks bro. :(

tenletters 01-16-2005 01:02 PM

i never pictured you owning a jeep.... how rugged and macho

Warren 01-16-2005 01:02 PM

Sorry to hear about Your jeep, it was good of You to give the girl a lift, her mother should be locked up, fucking lazy bitch.

I am just wondering how the insurance thing will work out with the Yukon guy considering You were the second guy to hit his motor, will he split the damage on his truck between Your insurance company and the first guys?

Oh good, I wasn't the only one who thought that. That child best be glad she's not MY daughter.

:disgust

Aaron, that was a very sweet thing you did. Karma will come around. :thumbsup

radical 01-16-2005 01:12 PM

Sorry to hear about your jeep Aaron ;-(

SteveF 01-16-2005 01:33 PM

Argh that's unfortunate Aaron, hope no one was hurt. I'm greatful this area of the states has received zero inclement weather thus far.

Pornopat 01-16-2005 01:38 PM

Okay you have insurance. Nobody got hurt. Shrug it off.

hova 01-16-2005 01:43 PM

that really sucks

TheMob 01-16-2005 02:06 PM

why did you go up the hill if it was iccy?

MakeMeGrrrrowl 01-16-2005 02:18 PM

You did a good thing Aaron! =) Even though it ended bad for you...it COULD have ended much worse for her...had YOU not been the one to offer her the ride. Think of it like that. You MAY have saved a girls life!

axelcat 01-16-2005 02:22 PM

Insurance is great to have once you need it but paying the insurance bills are shitty, its a good thing nothing happened to you

Wiggles 01-16-2005 03:11 PM

damn that sucks, the owner of the Yukon was a moron not to move it after the first time he got hit haha
