What percentage of your profit goes to hosting?

Is it around 20%, more, or less?

Doctor Dre 12-06-2005 08:55 PM

Of the gross ? I put my hosting in expenses ... I don't use profits money for it. Depending waht project it range from 0,5 to 25 %.

Hardlinks 12-06-2005 08:56 PM

if i said 1% it would be a HUGE over estimate.

maybe .0001.

Im serious too.

StickyGreen 12-06-2005 08:56 PM

Well if you had to relate your hosting costs to your profits what kind of percentage would you come up with?

Quotealex 12-06-2005 08:57 PM

less than 1% in my case.

LOL nope, i couldnt design a thing. The places in my sig are friends sites.

Yes i use mostly text.

bdld 12-06-2005 09:34 PM

less than 1%, i dont give away content for free.

Trixie 12-06-2005 09:35 PM

Hosting is a very very very small percentage of our costs, and doesn't take a big chunk out of what we make. Then again, our camfeeds are hosted for free by other people who resell them so all we pay to host are pics, videos, and text.

Rob 12-06-2005 09:38 PM

Profit is what you make after all of your overhead is cleared. :2 cents:

However, I think you meant, "What percentage of your overhead goes to hosting?". If you meant profit then the answer is 0%. If you meant total gross or overhead then I would say about 5%. I have overhead when it comes to the T1 circuit I purchased and the other bills I have to pay to keep it going.

beemk 12-06-2005 09:39 PM

if it goes to hosting it isnt profits.

Aquarius 12-06-2005 09:41 PM

I don't know the exact %, but I pay 9.95/month and that's it

the Shemp 12-06-2005 09:45 PM

5% of the gross

buddyjuf 12-06-2005 09:47 PM

10% unfortunately :(

but hey, it's the cost of doing business!

StickyGreen 12-06-2005 10:02 PM

30%, i fucking kill bandwidth!

Edit: I actually dont use all the bandwidth. But shit grows fast so i just get it in advance so i dont have to shop around later. Its a fucking pain in the ass to move servers.

That's a scary thought. No offense, but you learn about profit, margins, overhead, gross, and etc. in your first 2 years of college in Macro and Micro Eco classes. You don't have to be a business Major to know shit like that. :2 cents:

My Undergrad studies taught me pretty much everything I wanted to know about business, the rest is just common sense.

Rob 12-06-2005 10:11 PM

Was it a typo? If so, then I apologize for coming down on you like an anal professor or something. :winkwink:

yea no shit, i learned about all of that a few years ago also. maybe you didn't see where i said "i didn't mean to say profit." but you can go ahead and hold it against me and my business knowledge if it makes you feel better...

Out of X amount of dollars I bring in a month, about 1.6% goes to my hosting costs.

(based on last month's numbers)

xNetworx 12-06-2005 10:18 PM

1-2 days worth of income each month goes to hosting

That's pretty wide open. Sticky doesn't know if you make $100 a day or $10,000 a day. I'm pretty sure he is looking for something a little more specific. :2 cents:

Go back to your child not born thread. What the hell are you doing here? Who the fuck buys a "T1" any more? Get with the program 1.5 mbits on a "T1"
I got one for you how about an OC48? Another anachronism.
Maybe you should get DWDM for some real bandwidth. I think you are full of shit. What the fuck are you posting your crap here if you are going throug a personal tragety? You are lower than the lowest layer of prehsitoric frog shit at the bottom of a New Jersey scum swamp!

By the way, dickhead. I bought my T1 circuit 3 1/2 years ago...back when you were still jerking off to Victoria Secret's catalogs and 2 years before you graduated high school, you fucking punk! You have me REALLY FUCKING PISSED OFF at your comment. I really want to kick your fucking face in right now.
