Almost 7 days with no cigs but I'm about to cave in. I need some more inspiration!

I'm going to eat dinner now and when I'm finished I'm going to be craving a smoke something fierce. I'm about to cave in and buy a pack.

I know this sounds stupid but I really miss smoking. It was very enjoyable to me. I feel like a part of me is missing now. :(

Now someone post some cancer and emphysema pics or something.

Nydahl 12-14-2005 03:58 PM

go on man - you are doing fine
I wish I could make it - 7 days is great

Antonio 12-14-2005 04:00 PM

quiting was the best thing I have ever done

stay strong, power to the people !!!

Dollarmansteve 12-14-2005 04:02 PM

This may sound strange but when I started taking Greens+ (an organic vegetable coctail with all kinds of supposedly 'good' stuff in it) my cravings for cigarettes completely went away. Havent had one (and barely a craving) for 2 weeks. Maybe check that out.

my father at 51 could bench 260-280pounds, eight times
at 52 he got diagnosed with cancer, chronical smoker, 6 months later passed way

Sheri Santiago 12-14-2005 04:02 PM

Are you using one of those patches?

Fletch XXX 12-14-2005 04:03 PM

dont do it, youll hate yourself.

i was a very bad, very very bad alcoholic for over a decade. and im only 29.. got to the point i was drinking just to fill a hole.

my father died on cancer this March - 40 cigs daily for 35 years

Methodcash Rick 12-14-2005 04:07 PM

It's all in your head, it's all in your head...

I tried 8 - 10 times to quit, then this last time, I just finished my last smoke, and never bought any more..

That was 9 months ago, adn I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 20 years.. Fight through it, and tell yourself that it'll go away in 5 minutes, and keep on working...

sorry to hear that, lung cancer?
The irony is that when I was kid he was telling me to not smoke and that he'll probably die from that. We was smoking 40cigs too for 37-38 years.

Now, this is a story you should know. :warning

Damian_Maxcash 12-14-2005 04:18 PM

My nan gave up 10 years ago - her trick is that she stills carries one cig in her purse everywhere she goes, she says it takes away some of the perceived pressure - if she really has to have it she can...... she has been tempted a few times but just says to herself I will give it 5 more minutes, and then does something else - Ive heard a few others say it works as well.

Manowar 12-14-2005 04:19 PM

dont do it man!!!

detoxed 12-14-2005 04:34 PM

You are not much of a real man if you cant control what you do or dont do.

Inspired?

TheJimmy 12-14-2005 04:36 PM

I've been quit for over 4 years now...

Use a half a fucking patch if you need to get through the physical shit, if it's just psychological crap, go drink some tea, chew some gum, suck a boobie, whatever it takes, don't cave this early man, you're almost through the hard part (first 2 weeks) after that it's CAKE!!!!!!!!

chipmunk 12-14-2005 04:52 PM

BV congrats.. I quite 1 week before Phoenix Forum 3/31 and that was tough. I smoked for 14 years. I just made a promise to people that I would quit... So every time I wanted a smoke.. I would say my word means everything... It is now 12/14 and I still have not had a smoke :) So keep your head high!

not selfish at all

none smoker really believes he'll be the one facing a health issue, but unfortunately many run out of luck at some point. It's good thing you started this attempt and i wish you to keep up with it :)

DeloreanRider99 12-14-2005 04:52 PM

Im 22, started smoking ciggs when I was 18 (yep I actually waited till I was legal)
Since then Ive cut back alot on them. Im still a young person, but I was feeling week off them, couldnt excerise as much, always tired. Now when I do smoke its only for social events, and a key to cut back is bumming smokes dont buy them.

Goodluck

I can't quite put a finger on what i miss actually. I have the nicorette gum but it doesent satisfy the urge fully, maybe half way

Grapesoda 12-14-2005 04:58 PM

2 reasons not to 'hit the fag"

1. the 'urge' to smoke goes away whether you smoke or not, so why smoke?

2. every time you smoke you are making a conscious decision to harm yourself

ArkansasDave 12-14-2005 05:01 PM

Hang in there man!

DeloreanRider99 12-14-2005 05:02 PM

Does smoking ciggs really effect your sex performance ?

Reduces your circulation and things start going necrotic :(

imageman 12-14-2005 05:15 PM

Here's the deal

Every time you think of Smokes take 10 deep breaths and each time slowly breath out over 10 seconds. Drinks tons of water each day to wash out the nicotine...... After two weeks you will feel fine....
