no. thats absolute bullshit. Zango is a PPC engine. You can bid on keywords, you can bid on "competitive URL's" - What they were doing was bidding on URLs... OTHER PEOPLES URL's.

Lars admitted to bidding on Cams.com/aff.com because they had to.

two problems with that "excuse"

1) it doesn't change the fact that 20-30 other people are still bidding on those URL's

2) they were still bidding on shitloads of adult domains and trying to grab traffic from wherever they can. Even Sleazy stood up for him before it was pointed out that they were stealing his surfers in this way too.

3) their legal dept could have easily stopped zango from allowing people to bid on cams.com/aff.com - PROBLEM SOLVED

4) you are repeating what he said in the beginning... maybe you missed the latest post where he explains that "its just not profitable anymore" which is why they stop. that directly contradicts the "we just have to do it" excuse.

what i care about is the fact that this industry is FULL of scumbags and liars and rip off artists, continually driving towards its own implosion with no shortage of idiots lined up to kiss the ass of the thief.

How would they have been fucked if they didn't participate in Zango? Lars said right from the beginning, the traffic he received from Zango was extremely small and represented a miniscule amount of revenue. If that were true, then why would they put themselves through a public relations nightmare the last six months, lose dozens of top performing affiliates, and cause permanent damage to their company goodwill?

If Lars was telling the truth, then surely they wouldn't have been fucked to sacrifice that small amount of traffic and in turn would have garnered tons of positive attention and new affiliates by taking an industry positive anti-Zango stance. Sometimes the bigger picture seems only obvious to some in hindsight.

Where are the people screaming about zango still popping on Adult friend Finder Affilaites ? Its still happening now its just competitor pops. it doesn't work like that. thats like saying someone could have purchased the Adwords traffic for "dating" or something. its a ppc engine. you are always just one person bidding on a group of keywords out of many other people bidding on those same keywords.

furthermore, if you have an adult site, they were most likely bidding on YOUR URL... which means that anytime an user visits your site that has zango on their computer, it pops up a nice, big window over your site inviting them to cams.com or aff.com. lars said its just "offering the surfer another option" -i guess you would agree with that.

they "could have" done the right thing, protected their company, their trademarks and affiliates and just send a legal letter to zango and ended it forever. they didn't because the issue was cheap traffic that starts at .015 per click... not protecting their business.
