Are You A Boxing Fan? Boxer?
I'm back in the gym sparring around ( mostly martial arts but do love boxing ).
Anyone here have boxing as part of their life? |
MMA mostly, but I love to practice my hands. As a former wrestler I could use the improvement.
|
6 pro fights as a heavyweight in my much younger days.
Started in the gym when I was 10 years old. Hung up gloves after 6th fight when I had the crap beaten out of me for 8 solid 3 minute rounds by a guy who REALLY could box. I just thought I could. ;-) |
boxing fan here..i just love to watch manny pacquiao..he was the reason why i became a boxing fan...he's really a good fighter!!!
|
Kickboxer here
Represented my university in the National Heavyweight Champs I lost in the final to the undisputed champ. The fucker was good, but not THAT much better than me.... :( Since those Ive been on a bit of a downer regards training, kinda getting a belly back cuz Ive switched all my gym time for book time. |

(If I could've only clinched) :helpme |
yep ... love boxing its a beautifull sport. I train six days a week now.
This is me in black pants sucking after being exausted by the previous round... https://youtube.com/watch?v=XkCvxt4R20E |
Boxing is just far to one dimensional for me. MMA is where it's at. Train 5-6 days a week.

And you are right, I have along history of legal and illegal violence, and by FAR the hardest thing I have ever done was getting in the ring the first time. Ironically, April 1 1989 was my first fight, I had no amateur fights at all. I never fought for fun - either in or out of the ring. :2 cents: |

Used to, until I started getting serious and immediate headaches every time I ate a jab. I switched to grappling. If I never have to take another punch in my life, that's fine with me.

My friend the Warring one would not be questioning skill levels or comparisons, simply available "choices". I would have been a MUCH better boxer if I could have swept legs or used elbows and forearms ;-) :2 cents: |
I was a boxer/kickboxer when i was younger, good old days

hmm.... MMA is a cool sport an all, but after seeing it live a lot of times, theres a big gap between the form. I mean, I LOVE to watch the fights where both fighters want to use a lot of bare knuckle strikes n stuff. And they really dig in the kicks.
But I HATE the ones that go to ground! And heres why... Its inpractical in a real fight situation. You go to ground - you get stamped. Ive trained under some great Muay Thai guys (trained under European Champ for a while) and I maintain that it's the most effective on the street. However to train in it 3 or 4 times a week, in a normal lifestyle, is just STOOPID! lol I was coming home every session with black eyes, cuts, bruises, sprains, muscle injuries etc etc. The training was just TOO intense, especially if you have to go to work/classes/woman straight after. Thats why kickboxing was a great compromise for me. It helped me keep sharp hands for those times in clubs when some dick thinks he can grab your missus's ass. It lets me keep my taekwondo "showmanship" kicks sharp. And its a great aerobic workout. But it's a lot more controlled, and therfore fits into a regular life much easier. Just thought I'd ramble. :) |
wow alot of fighters on this board :)
|
boxed for just over a year. loved it.
then went back to lifting weights pass two years. going to start MMA this summer =) |

You're rambling, that's for sure. Make sure you tell all those guys with broken arms that grappling is impractical. Once they wake up from the rear naked choke. |
:) :) :)

Most fights eventually end up on the ground cause street fighters get gassed so quick. |
I prefer better K1 then simple Box. I find it more interesting. :pimp

I'm a fan, but not into fighting... just watching.
|
I love watching the "sweet science" , can't wait for delahoya mayweather.
|
I cannot help but notice (and comment) as reading through all the posts here that when you look at who is posting about what they do that those same names RARELY appear in keyboard warrior threads unless there is "specific performance" involved......
He he Another case of: Those that can do and those that cannot write about it .... 2c |
I'm just a fan and contented on just watching on tv.. I'm afraid of being hurt physically..
