I tore 2 ligaments on my ankle once too. It took me a month, with physiotherapy, to be up and running.
|
My daughter and I both tore ours within a few weeks of each other. Been about 3 years now, both of us still have problems with the ankle we injured.

Ankles never heal up right.

I can barely wiggle my toes. This happened 10 days ago and my foots is still very swollen, black n blue and yellowish, and in pain. Very hard to fall asleep at nite with this pain. using crutches and i am in a aircast. Keeping it elevated a lot to and ice throughout the day.... oh yeah, OUCH!!!!!! the worst part is, i stopped seeing this chic and now i dont even have anyone to offer me in home nurse care : ( |
4-6 weeks with physio till you can walk and do normal stuff, but anything hard on your ankle will hurt like a mofo. I injured my ankle last summer quading and its still not right, after tennis or squash my foot hardly fits in my shoe and its tender the next day or two.
It all depends on what ligaments you tore |
any ligament problems usually last a while. especially if its full torn, then you are fucked
|
6 weeks atleast
|
6 months at least before you will start to forget about the injury, and even then you better be damn careful with it for a couple years

And once you feel good enough for "sports", wear an ankle wrap / support / brace while doing it, or you will more than likely hurt it again and it WILL take even longer to heal. Broken bones are mere annoyances compared to severe sprains / ligament damage. |

he's a ton better but still gets sore from standing too long. hopefully you will heal up with the quickness! good luck! |
I broke my ankle and tore all the ligaments. It's been almost 3 yrs and it still hurts.
Best of luck. |
Probably 2 months with rehab

well I ruptured two ligaments in my ankle 14 years ago and it still isn't right but I was in a cast for 6 months so I figure you will be at least that long for it to heal but your ankle will always fuck with you its much like a knee and back injury they last forever
|
Happened to me 5 times (seriously) and it takes around 6 weeks to get you going again
btw after it happened the first time it kept comming back take as much time as you can because they will be weak forever.... one weird move and it can happen again |

WOW!!!! thats exactly what mine looks like... i am assuming you rolled it over and it felt like a POP... OH MAN!!! 6 weeks is going to be brutal. I am doing the RICE technique and i have a physical therapist coming over to do some electronic stimulation thing he sold me on... lol i need to cut the recovery time in half... this was suppose to be the SUMMER OF IAN |
i dont knwo why but when i lay in bed at nite to go to sleep the pain intensifies by like 1000%.... and forces me to take Vicodin : (
Summer of Ian is slipping away : ( |

Same thing happened to me, it took me about 6 months for it to be in good shape again, because I did not rest it, dont walk around too much for the next 2-3 weeks, otherwise it will take much longer to heal.:2 cents::2 cents:
|
Simply put... just stay the fuck off it for as long as it takes (and quit yer bitchin about it).
The more you walk on it, play softball on it, fuck with it etc, the longer the problems will persist with it. Or you can wrap it up with a tensor every day, rub it down every night, stay OFF it as much as possible, and in 6 weeks or so you're good to go for every day walking, but I'd still give it longer for sports. Btw, as far as your "six pack" goes, uh dude, you can still do crunches and situps with a boned up ankle. |
Btw, I've broken both ankles at different times playing hockey, I sure know the drill. The good news is neither one bothers me at all since. (one happed when I was 10, the other at 14, I'm 45 now)
Play it smart and you'll still have the tail end of July and ALL of August to have your "summer of Ian" |
7 days......
|
My boyfriend got into a motorcycle accident and did the same thing to his ankle, that was 3 years ago and he is still in some pain. It just doesn't heal right and you probably will get bad arthritis. Hope you feel better.

Sorry to hear that. I was a paramedic for 8 years and I saw a lot of injuries like that. Definately see a specialist right away, if it's a tear it could need surgury. I know you didn't want to hear that but if it needs it, it's best to get it done sooner than later. That is still pretty swollen after 10 days. Definately keep weight off it and sleep with it elavated. You could take motrin for the pain, especially at night.
Good Luck Dude... J |
