That is because the channel is 5 minutes old.

every 30 seconds someone joins goes 'theres no one there' then leaves..

if people idled they could catch all the people coming through.

im wondering how many irc servers exist. I think anyone can setup one with a freebie script or something

on Efnet there are currently 52 running servers. Hybrid is free to download yes, anyone can start a server, whether or not it makes it into the efnet server list is a different matter. they push some pretty serious bandwidth.

efnet sucks? I've used efnet for sooooo many things since 1994. Undernet and dalnet and all those others are full of useless new people who want to chat.. I don't want to chat. I want to idle goddamnit, with geeks like me. Efnet has 10x more resources if you know where to look. :)
