I am leaving the Island. Going back to Holland

My 3.5 year stay on the gorgeous island of Curacou has come to an end. 8 hours from now I am hopping on a plane with my two doggies. Back to the warm nest of my family and close friends.

It has been a great holiday but all things must come to an end.
:)

Scott McD 02-27-2009 08:01 AM

I'd be gutted to leave. At least you seem happy enough to return home though.

Must have been great out there !!

DutchTeenCash 02-27-2009 08:02 AM

Godsmack 02-27-2009 08:11 AM

And i was just about tho have fun with you and Nils in Curacao.. hmmmz.. :Oh crap

Anyway, welcome back in Holland..

seeandsee 02-27-2009 08:12 AM

you always come back home :)

nico-t 02-27-2009 08:21 AM

are you crazy? why not visit home from time to time and live where the weather is good

Jman 02-27-2009 08:22 AM

I got Island fever after 11 months of living in Curacao, after 2 months of doing all that you can do as a tourist and be wowed there's not much to do apart from work.

Everyday is groundhog day as it's basically always the same temperature, you can drive around the island in a jiffy, and there's NO tall building.

Don't get me wrong I loved my experience there but as a french canadian not speaking deutsch or papiamento I felt a bit like an outcast ;-)

With that said, can't wait to go back for a vacation.

I understand that fully. I don't think i'd actually be able to live in a more tropical enviroment with not much to do. Sure just now thinking about it i'd love it, but i do think i'd end up wanting back home eventually. Not necessarily here, but somewhere where i can enjoy doing the same things i do here. I guess i'm just a city guy... :thumbsup

Yes, after living in Puerto Rico over a year, I didn't mind having to move back.....I did love the weather and the beaches though...I never got tired of it....But weird acting puertoricans plus the fact that you can't even find sausage in the grocery stores (cause they don't eat it), was kind of frustrating.

Being able to go to my local breakfast food joint and pick up some Chuletas (fried porkchops) made up for it though....But it made me fat as hell...I'm glad I'm not there now.

justsexxx 02-27-2009 04:08 PM

Just curious, why are you coming back? Welcome back btw:)

Yeah you nailed it. All the good and great things turn boring if you can enjoy them for to long. I started missing things like family friends and culture.

pixovore 03-02-2009 03:57 AM

home sweet home nothing's better!

ExLust 03-02-2009 04:38 AM

dirtymind 03-02-2009 05:27 AM
