Mrfrisky and his adventures in domainsnappingland!
Since a week or 2 i got on this adventure to reinvest some money and tryout some new oppurtunities. One of them is trying to get into the "domain biz". Im still a total noob, and i will make many mistakes. But while doing it all, i will regularly post here how i fucked up, or maybe even my small successes on the dangerous road to becoming a "domainer".
My first steps i took where simply. I checked all domainselling threads on the boards around to see what is being sold. And just bought some that i "liked". Either because i liked the keywords in it, or even with some thought behind it like: Could this be a good one in the near future.
Some of these domains where sold to me by brokers, and some of those brokers became friends and are trying to help me out and prevend me from being a total fuckup and buying shitty domains over and over again :winkwink::thumbsup But as im hardheaded i will fail over and over again, and maybe in the end, i will become a BIT of a pro on domain names, who knows.
The first domains i bought where:
drunksexvidz.com, drunkwifes.com, exgfvidz.com, exvidz.com, homevideoamateur.com
poshtube.com, snobtube.com, trailerparktube.com, xposedvideo.com, xposedvids.com, tubesz.com and tubezs.com.
A bit later on i got the chance to buy imobileporn.com. Which i put some more thought into it before buying it, but with the upcoming craze of mobile porn and mobileporn.com already sold, i really wanted that one. So that one is in my humble portfolio now too.
Then i decided to not only ask for advice, but also to try and find some ways to "snap deleted domains" myself. And by snapping (describing it for the other people not having a clue with the domain biz) i mean: Finding a service that grabs domains that are in the "deleted state" really soon. When that deleted state is up, it means its free on the market and transferable again.
I found a service who does this for $59 dollars. Downloaded the list of domains that where gonna be deleted that day. Did a filtersearch for some keywords that came up in my virgin domainers mind, and copied them into the system so it would let me know when the time was up. After some hours i got the first mail saying the first domains where freed, and that they where now in a "bidding state". Meaning: The domains are on the market, the company somehow snaps them, and when more then 1 person is interested they go into some sort of auction battle. I put the bar high, and put in a max bid, so that when the other person interested would do a bid and the system would autobid higher for me with a certain max.
A couple i lost interest in, because i simply didnt see the value of it being that high. So i "lost the battle" which kinda was depressing. BUT, some other "auction wars" i came out as the winner! Even in the bathtub i was checking my mails to see if the other bidder had sniped in a higher bid in the last minutes. Days after, i read that couldnt even be done, because a lastminute bid would extend the auction anyways. But i was like a kid in a candystore waiting for that last chocolate bar with the golden invitation to charly to be mine!
The ones i "won" with my "awewsome" strategy (kidding) are:
Securitycameravideos.com, evilcash.com, sextapecash.com, spyonhermobile.com, mobile3dchat.com, pornomobiles.com, imobilecams.com, gossipgonemobile.com.
Again, some i really thought about, some i just wanted because i assumed the keywords in it where nice.
One thing i did to try and find out if the domains where any good, was checking google for the keywords. Lots of results turned up, which i later learned didnt mean a thing because a lot of results doesnt necessary mean the keywords itself are getting a lot of searches. So, there went my "strategy right out of the window again".
Off course i wanted to give it another try and after talking to some experts i learned that "short" domains are sort of a garantee to stay valuable in the future. Good investment i guessed and went for it.
I downloaded the daily delete list, found a three character .com domain and put in my "high offer". The emails came in that the "auction war" would soon begin, and i sattled up my horse. Like a real cowboy and indian adventure the bids where flying. He counterbidded, i recounterbidded faster then my own shadow, and after the sounds of bullets flying died off, i ended up the winner, with a new domain:
2fk.com
Yah, 2fk.com. Aint that something.. maybe not. Because after asking around and proudly uncovering my adventure and "succes" in snapping the 3 character name, i got confused.
Some domainers told me, it was not of a huge value. But some disagreed and thought it actually was a good domain. But always there was this one question: What do you think someone could MAKE of it in the future?
Of course, i thought about it before trying to snap it: 2fk.com, as in 2 fuck!
What do you guys think, did i progress a little from my first steps untill my latest victory?
Are there any good domains in this story? And should i pursue this dream of becoming a "real domainer". Or should i leave it to the experts, and just ask a really real domainer to invest a little part of the money :)
Story to be continued. Feel free to bid on any domains in this thread, i will keep you all informed!
