some of us dont see chrome as "showing off", it looks nice. ever since I was young I liked seeing my uncles chromed out Harley Davidsons, and seeing them put the chrome American Racing mags on GTOs and them hot El Camino SSs.

Some people dond really care about showing off their chrome. I know I don't. Car is nothing but a transportation. People shouldn't save money for car they cant afford.

In 1982 I bought a brand new fully loaded Camaro Z28. They had changed the body style that year and I was the first person in my town to get one.

I was busting my ass working in construction in the hot Florida sun and it took EVERYTHING I had just to get the new car. I lived in a small town full of spoon fed rich kids and the first thing they would say when they saw my car was " You need to put some nice rims on that thing and THEN it would be awesome ".

I learned two life lessons from that experience. One, I'll never diss someone for not having more than they do because I really don't know how hard it was for them to get what they do have. Two, people that expect other people to have something more than they do are nothing more than douche bags.

yes it is. My Uncle had a Mother of Pearl El camino SS with chrome chain wheel steering wheel, I used to sit in and pretend I was driving when i was like 7! , ever since then I have loved chrome rims. Period.

That is classy, not tacky. A nice muscle car with chrome accents and a set of normal looking rims is great. its when they take that same car and slap a set of 22" donks that it looks like a chrome abortion.

well again this thread isnt really about dubs, or 22s, its about going from factory to chrome.... but shit man I was checking a 1988 White Cadillac on 20s yesterday and that shit was sweeeet! So fucking clean.

Its all in how you set it up. Ive seen some old school rides on dubs that is so hot.

All depends on how it is done. Foose can make larger rims look correct on a classic, but a lot of these guys who get rims put on cars have no sense in their heads about what looks right for the vehicle.

One thing that amazed me about Vegas when I was there is that everyone seems to have rims and every 2nd store in a strip plaza is selling 22s.

the problem with chroming your rims is that it makes the metal very brittle and they can break at high speeds....

So I guess the people that want to drive slowly and look cool get their rims chromed, and the people that want to drive fast and explore the performance limits of their cars, don't.

Plenty of room in the world for both types of people...

....and in the interests of disclosure, I'm the latter type of person.
