When was the last time you used one of these???

I remember when it was a dime to make a 3 minute call, then it went up to .20 cents I think. I haven't used one in over 15 years, if not longer.

You?

I can't remember when I last used one. At the grocery store I go to they have one in the entry way next to the water kiosk that I use to fill up my 5 gallon water bottles. I was in there a few weeks ago and there was a guy actually using it. I have lived in this town and gone to that store for about 5 years now and that was the first time I ever saw it in use.

martinsc 04-06-2010 03:43 AM

wow... so long ago... at least 15 years...

Hay... gimme da quarter tone nukka!

CunningStunt 04-06-2010 04:42 AM

I left my cellphone at home the other day, and the battery in my car was flat - I scraped around my glovebox for some coins (had just woke up, dropped the nipper off at daycare), took me 10 minutes to find a payphone, then I stared at the thing for about 30 seconds trying to figure out how it worked. LOL. You have to put the money in first, if it fails for some reason, it invariably eats the money and you're fucked. :1orglaugh

Altwebdesign 04-06-2010 04:56 AM

no idea!! hated the damn smelly things!!

SomeCreep 04-06-2010 09:17 AM

Can't remember the last time I used a public telephone, but if I did, I'd only touch it with 2 fingers and most definitely not press it up against my ear.

bignasty 04-06-2010 09:19 AM

Just the other day. I turned my cellphone off a couple months back, really love getting rid of that hassle.

That's funny. I remember them interrupting you to put in more money the longer you spoke or your call would be disconnected. Kind of the same way we do with credits on the cam sites. :1orglaugh

That is what the handset is for. Much easier to grasp as well.

GrouchyAdmin 04-06-2010 10:47 AM

I saw one by the side of the road last week. First time I've seen one in ages.

A few months ago I used one because I left my cell in the car and it was raining like hell so I didn't feel like getting drenched to confirm what I was supposed to pick up.

ArsewithClass 04-06-2010 10:55 AM

When I used one last I used a phone card. Not knowing if you can get phone cards in the states, but they are useful to keep in your wallet incase your battery dies & you have no loose change in your pocket.

Two years ago I didn't have a prepaid north american cell like I do now, just my costa rican phone (non roaming)... I was in Vancouver trying to find a payphone to call a buddy, but every payphone I remembered the location of was either gone or broken... Walked around for almost an hour before a chick at Starbucks let me use hers.

Fucksakes 04-06-2010 11:07 AM

got lost on my way to montreal, didnt have my gps or cellphone... it was raining and very windy, I had to stop at a gas station to get some coins and drive across this huge parking lot.. and as I am on this damn thing trying to get directions my 4yr son pees himself.

michael.kickass 04-06-2010 11:19 AM

Last time I wanted to use one I had a few quarters in my pocket and the damn thing only accepted cards. :error
