Your monthly utility bill?
Im not talking about big houses, but those who live in an average 1 or 2 bedroom what's your average utility bill? Gas, water, central heating, electircity total. And in what country is that?
|
anybody paying it at all?
|
Nope. Whay?
|
yeah me, i pay for all cost $500 monthly.....
|
We have a fairly large, but 100 year old city house. It's not very energy efficient at all.
I cringe when the bill gets paid each month. It could pay the mortgage on at least one additional rental property. :1orglaugh |
Well I've read that the average American household pays around $106 per month for electricity.

The problem here is that our houses don't cost much, but we pay out the ass in taxes. Some of the highest, if not the highest in the country. So say you paid $65k for your almost 4500 square ft of living space, basement and attic...it's really not all that cost effective to put $30k into bringing it up to date. Especially if you're sick of living in the "hood" and don't want your kids to be speaking urban slang by the time they're 5. We'd be extremely lucky to get $20k in added value to the house...any more than that would put it out of the range of the rest of the houses in the area. The house we live in, my girl bought before we got together. We have a rental property that is a similar house built around the same time. That one, we has been updated mostly due to it being a rental...but it more than pays for itself. We live in a very strange area for Real Estate - Rochester, NY |

I was thinking more along the lines of finding areas where quick inexpensive repairs/insulation could be preformed. A few spots that might immediately be cost effective to work on. see link ..... http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...www.google.com . |
same thing here my utility bill i have worth $650 a month all
|
Electric: $80
Water: $6 Internet: $120 (got the good package) Then every couple months some guy shows up at the house, looking for $0.50 for trash collection. Not sure if he's legit, or just some asshole looking for beer money, but whatever. |

The next step is moving our asses out to of the city, past the suburbs and out to the countryside. |
I have a 4BR, 2000 square foot house that is terrible on energy efficiency.
My gas/electric is something like $500.00 mo. this year, up from around 375.00 last. :disgust My three month water bill is something like $80-100.00. |

Ours total is less than your electric bill is alone... I'm pretty ours doesn't reach that, in total, even in the summer months. |
Electric: $1500 / mo
Water: $600 / mo |

I was in a 2 story townhouse (1140sq ft, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath) with one shared wall. It was super efficient. Forced air furnace and water tank on gas. Everything else electricity.
Gas per month: $50 electricty per month: $50 in Vancouver, BC. |
4 bedroom house:
$300 a month in winter includes gas heat and electricity ($200 in summer). $150 for a phone and cable TV bundle. :) |

feel free to take a pic of your bill with your digital camera or cell phone coz I call a bull on this one, Maui or not |

I lived in Hawaii for years, the electric bills there are easily 3 times what most pay on the mainland :2 cents:
. |
I live in FL, USA. Until 2010 was paying average $200 a month power. They raised the rates towards the end of 09 and now I hardly ever see a bill below $300. Was really bummed when we put in a new energy efficient A/C unit a few months ago. The new unit is nice to have, but it didn't make a dent in the bill.

So mostly people live much larger then I do in my shit hole 1 bedroom.

1100 sq foot 70 year old house, no basement. gas heat, central air. old windows
+-$160 electric and gas combined (budget plan, up to $280 in winter with lows of -40C here (mostly -10C to -20C), down to $100 in summer gets to 35C max, mostly 20C-30C) $110 home phone and internet (includes long distance) $20 water - paid quarterly $40 cable TV +-$70 property tax (+- $800 yearly) $40 home insurance (+- $500 yearly) $60 cell phone $1200 year car insurance |
Up in Montreal we get reamed in the winter, I pay about $450/mo when the snow falls and in the summer roughly $150/mo, it would be lower but we heat the pool quite a bit.

2500sq. ft. home (2-story, which adds to the AC/Heating cost) Electric = $150-$275, depending on the time of year Water = $55-70 It is pertinent to note that I have all energy star appliances, double pane windows, 18" of blown insulation in the attic, and all door/window/vent seals are very tight. I have the heater set to kick on if it drops below 67, and the a/c set to kick on if it goes above 75. Also, whenever the ambient temperature outside is within those two ranges, I totally shutdown the system and just open windows during the day for fresh air. |
