I am going to take the high road from here on out, obviously my sense of humor is not appreciated by people here..

I was layed off from a 200,000 a year job at AVN at the hieght of the financial crisis. I went from making a shit ton of money to making unemployemnt which barely covered my over priced car payment.

6 months later Theo reccomended me for a position at trafficshop. Although I knew dick about traffic at the time I took the job reluctantly. Since then I have sold over a million dollars in traffic to the largest most trafficed sites in the business.

I can be a dick. I can be an ass. But I am always honest - I skirt aronund the truth sometimes when it suits me but overall I like to think that I am a good person with good intentions, My mother taught me tio always do to others as I wanted to be treated.

I have never fucked over anyone in this industry and have helped many make alot of $$. I have however been fucked over by business partners and i will ntolet that happen again.... no more.

I really give 2 shits what any of you think of me. I value my reputation which was severly tarnished by accepting a highly paid position at a controversial hated outfit that will make a shit ton of money.

I watched the .xxx saga from the beginning and honestly i have never takien a stand on it. After seeing their business plan from the inside I can tell you with a firm belief that they will be succesful and they are not the evil that people think they are. They are capitalist and want to make a bunch of money, but can we fault them for this? Dont we all want to get rich.

Whe people see their their strategic plan to bring traffic to .XXX they will come, build and make money. Mark my words.

Lesson Learned..... nothing comes easy... there are no shortcuts. If you think you will get rich quick without hard work think again.

Final though.... change is scary... nobody liked TGP, TGP2, Tubes, etc... but change happens whether you like it or not...... .XXX is here to stay, whether you like it or not. Personally I dont care, I am no longer a stakeholder in that game.

Will and DWB, I apologize for my sophmoric behavior - but if you look at my history on GFY youll see that I havent changed since day one... I am alway a bit crazy with my psotings as I like a little drama and spice.......

I never poked at you until you took the job at ICM. But you're gonna have to take your lumps on that one. It's going to haunt you for a while, and rightfully so.

That's part of the problem right there. You're a bit obnoxious and your over the top personality scratches people the wrong way. Tone that shit down a bit and you should be fine. And of course - ignore the haters. Hard to do.... but an essential skill to master.

Chris you have been in the business for a long time but I keep seeing you making rookie mistakes. I am not sure if it is because you can not control your ego or if you are selfdestructive.
You have been rightfully attacked by some people lately. Try to accept that and swallow your pride.
There is a reason you are no longer with AVN and there is a reason you are no longer with XXX. You messed up.
Now everybody messes up at times and shit happens.
Now work from there, drop that ego or selfdestructiveness and focus on providing your family with an income.

Because he sells to the industry, his reputation means everything. We may be strangers on a message board, but 80% of us are potential customers of his traffic sales. If the majority of us decide that we no longer want to do business with him because of his decision to work for .xxx, then he's fucked.

And even when faced with the facts, you didn't even want to admit it and even INSULTED people. Hence, your "I'm honest blah blah blah" speech... well, just leave it. You aren't. Listen, I really didn't even care about the ICM position, it's a work, it isn't compulsive or mandatory, and yes, they're capitalist and yes, they want to make money. Like everybody. IMHO, the problem with your situation wasn't ICM. It was you and nobody else than you and your attitude towards people. People who rightfully was in anger AND YOU KNEW IT. I don't know, personally I don't have anything against you and to be honest I felt sorry for your situation, because everybody knows what is like when you deposit a lot of expectation and hopes on projects that fail, and how bad it hurts. But when I saw your reaction to that (keeping with the insults, the "ban xxxxxxx" threads, the "let's post lots of crap until people forget", the "let's change name so people can't search what I did", the manipulation, etc).... well, I just can say that you need therapy TO THE VERY LEAST. Chris was with us for several years, he is a real hard worker and an honest person. This is something I can proudly say for all my employees some of which have been with us since the formation of the company in 1983. I won't go through the path of him not confirming his ICM employment the 1st day it was posted at GFY, I won't be surprised if it wasn't even officially completed. When a company hires a person they get to decide the timing of such announcement.

I won't discuss his past employment status with us, but as his friend I feel the break he took was for his own benefit. He is strong, he stood up and entered a productive mode again. When Chris learns something he gets really good at it and that's why I insisted him to at least go through the interview process with TrafficShop regardless of not having an extensive background in brokering traffic. Companies and employees come to AVN all the time asking for assistance and very often some great matches occur. As matter of fact the last couple days, 2 Internet industry veterans became available and if you are looking to hire feel free to reach me out and i'll pass them your info.

Regarding his short ICM employment… I personally didn't expect to see Chris working there and in the beginning I thought it was a joke. The heat associated with such position is given and I assumed he would have avoided it. I don't judge him though for his decision, it was his to make, not mine. I would be hypocrite to hide my belief that if he had stayed under the GFY radar he would have helped ICM pick new clients. I'm sure their next sales person will be given strict guidelines not to post here. Live and learn.

The webmaster community has been more than outspoken for years about the new TLD. There are significant and serious concerns about the effect it will have in the industry as a whole and a lot of things have yet to be addressed.

I know in a sales position you have to look like a major baller to make it look like you know what your doing.

I take the opposite approach and I do real fine around here. I tell everyone I am barely hanging on. Which I am. :) I am not a baller. Yes maybe that is embarrasing to some. Not to me. I am not going to try and impress anyone. I am here to survive in a (hopefully not) dieing industry.

This doesnt mean I am not doing better today than yesterday. I am. I am working hard and making more every month. But there is no easy money for the most part.

My first thought when reading the above paragraph I quoted was, if you are making $200,000 even for one year, then you should have a little something saved. You must be blowing thru the cash man.

Seriously that is a lot of money. Serious money from where I stand. Once you make that kind of money you should never be close to hurting for money again. Sell the car! :) If I made 200K for one year I would be set for life. You have way too high an overhead. Do you think money grows on trees and a huge income will last forever. :)
