Bee hive removal (pic)

Okay,

So I'm pretty sure I've got a situation like this going on in my backyard (see below). I've left the bees alone for around 5 months now and at this point there are so many I've got to do something.

Rather than call an exterminator, I thought I'd pick the minds of my fellow GFY members... how would you handle this?

My access box is closed, so I'd have to get in there and get something to lift it up. With all of the bees going nuts in the daytime, I figured at night would be the best time to get close enough to spray them down before prying the box open... the question is, with what? I've tried raid, doesn't do shit.

call the exterminator, even one bee can bee dangerous

BIGTYMER 09-21-2011 12:23 AM

Eugenic oils. Or however you spell it.

Jel 09-21-2011 12:57 AM

Call an exterminator. Why waste time on that shit? It's like the guys with brick and mortar businesses that want a website, and go ask everyone and his brother how to make one.

Mike Honcho 09-21-2011 01:01 AM

Well I would say gasoline and a light, but in your case, I'd either pour diesel fuel or high octane gas on the hive.

Failed 09-21-2011 01:56 AM

Best Option: Call an exterminator. You wouldn't even be charged. In fact, you may make a few dollars. They collect the bees with a vacuum like device and send them to labs that pay big money for honey bees. It's an amazing business all its own.

Second Best Option: Lots of smoke! Bees are disoriented by smoke. If you fan large amounts of smoke into the hive, the bees will temporarily be confused, leaving you enough time to dismantle the hive. Although, they may rebuild and you're back to square 1.

See Cig 09-21-2011 03:12 AM

kill it with fire.

seeandsee 09-21-2011 03:44 AM

hot water will fix it

TheDoc 09-21-2011 03:54 AM

Don't kill them... Bees are one of the most important insects, if not the most important, we have... and we're truly running out of them, very very very quickly.

I'm not bullshitting either, you can look it up...don't kill them, hire an exterminator that will remove them, but not kill them.

Give your local Monsanto a call :2 cents:

u-Bob 09-21-2011 04:41 AM

Over here, the fire department comes and removes them free of charge.

Emil 09-21-2011 04:44 AM

Let them bee.

~Ray 09-21-2011 05:04 AM

call animal control. it is free. you already paid via your taxes. they will not/should not kill the bees.

Quoted for truth.

beerptrol 09-21-2011 05:18 AM

Look for a beekeeper in your neck of the woods and see if they will come and take them away
You probably could ask animal control if they know of any beekeepers in your area

pornguy 09-21-2011 05:21 AM

Depending on where you live you may be able to find a service that will just relocate them rather than kill them.

DWB 09-21-2011 05:30 AM

Exterminator. You screw up with that many bees and you may end up dead.

adultchatpay 09-21-2011 07:06 AM

Here's the plan:
Smoke them, collect the honey... repeat that every couple of days

czarina 09-21-2011 07:09 AM

DON'T KILL THEM!!!
Call animal control or the fire department and they'll relocate them to a safe location. Whatever you do, don't be cruel to them. Bees are kind little animals that don't hurt people unless they're attacked.

This ^. Maybe a college nearby would want to come get them.

wehateporn 09-21-2011 08:00 AM

Save the Bees! :thumbsup

L-Pink 09-21-2011 08:07 AM

I'd move.

.

Nikki_Licks 09-21-2011 08:13 AM

Call a beekeeper. He will come out and remove the entire hive without killing the bees...usually they relocate them.

Good luck, and by no means should you mess with these guys, they are vicious....

LMAO. Those pics aren't mine. I saw them somewhere years ago and thought they'd be fitting.

You should know if it's physical I'm definitely not fucking doing it. Swings are hard man.

Ahaha, I kind of figured that, but still had to give you some guff since you just got a new home ;)

It would take longer to get a girl up there than I actually last. Pointless.

TheMan 09-21-2011 09:16 AM

Put something big over the hole they are flying in and out of... Do this at night time when they are all inside. Leave for two weeks and they will all be dead.

MrBottomTooth 09-21-2011 09:29 AM

there's all kinds of bee spray that will kill them easily. I use this stuff that foams. It has a straw that sticks into the end of the can and it can shoot a jet of foam about 9 feet. Never seen a bee survive this stuff.
