Yes they should... Don't buy the spam/resource argument. Plenty of large boards out there that handle it just fine.

Really? What big board has it that does not deal with spam? I can't think of one that I don't get spammed on.

Much larger boards handle this with no problems and PM's are damn near a necessity when conducting business if you don't want to turn your personal computer into an ICQ / AIM / MSN / Skype machine.

VBulletin has a plugin for user ratings that is very effective as well. Whatever reason GFY has decided to stick with 2003 technology is not a good one.

Very little to none if the captains of the ship take care of business.

There's really no reason that they shouldn't have it. At least not any reason that can't be dealt with. But not having makes the post and thread count higher so..

People that want to be contacted have their email and/or icq in their sig.

The rest obviously doesn't want to be contacted.

If they'd enable PM all the annoying affiliate reps would spam the hell out of you if you make some post where you say you have traffic or can send sales.

I did not say they don't have to deal with spam.. I said they handle it... Nor did I say it wouldn't increase resource usage... Again.. Bigger boards than this one handle it just fine. Bigger boards than this one don't have the crazy limitations on search either.

This is the only adult forum I'm on, and its also the only forum I'm on that doesnt have PM enabled.

And furthermore.......

Anything I have to say that should be "private"' this is one of the last places I'd trust with sensitive info

But GFY has the issues they have. There is no way I would want a PM system until they made regular things work.

Yes.

Just make it optional so those that want it can have it and those that don't can refuse it. Also block certain people sending you a message. Spamming is a reason for the ban hammer to come crashing down.

Then all sides are happy.
