These White People Just Made An App For Avoiding Black Neighborhoods
I know the article is a month old, apologies if it was posted already, couldn't find anything with the search function.[/I]
http://www.addictinginfo.org/wp-cont.../08/A00026.jpg Someone please stop the crazy white people. In yet another example of racist appery, the white entrepreneurs above just made another app to help white folks ensure they never end up in a place where there are?well?non-white folks. SketchFactor, helps users avoid ?sketchy? neighborhoods, and by ?sketchy? they mean ?poor and non-white?. Yet, far from being condemned as racists by the tech community, grinning Caucasian c0-founders, Allison McGuire and Daniel Herrington are finalists in a $20,000 startup contest! The pair must have heard it on the grapevine (see what I did there?) that some disquiet about their app exists, because they headed it off at the pass on their blog. While inviting their fellow white people to share ?sketchy? stories about strangers they spot (translation: warn white folks there are black folks about) ? they remind us all that the purpose is not, repeat, not racist: Who we?re not: racists, bigots, sexists. Any discriminatory posts will be deleted. So, don?t say black, say ?ghetto? or ?urban? ? and you?re all good. But this isn?t even the first app on the market to perform this black-dodging. Back in September 2013, Gawker reported on another app titled ?GhettoTracker? ? like SketchFactor, the images representing users and good areas were white, the bad, Black and Latino. http://www.addictinginfo.org/wp-cont...4/08/B0014.png source; http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/08...neighborhoods/ Thoughts? Knowing the following kind of stats: A 2012 study by the Department of Justice?s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention revealed that in 2010 black youths committed six times more murders, three times more rapes, 10 times more robberies and three times more assaults than did their white counterparts. - See more at: http://americanfreepress.net/?p=1486....ZsxR41BO.dpuf Would you consider the App racist? |

The folks in those certain nameless particular 'hoods obviously don't like it when whitey takes a wrong turn down their street, or anyone who isn't THEM for that matter. They more than anyone should appreciate an app like this that prevents that bothersome intrusion by annoying other-ethnicities on their 'turf'.

I think its racist to say that a ghetto is automatically Black Neighborhoods.
The app helps you avoid high crime areas, the app has nothing to do with skin color. |
about 15 years ago gang bangers murdered a family that took a wrong turn here in LA. if you think it's racist to avoid assholes and fuckups... you're a fucking moron :2 cents:

Well the fact is that in many ways there's actually 2 separate and distinct nations co-existing within the United States. One is a financially wealthy United States and the other is a poor 3rd world United States. In some areas of the USA someone can literally walk from a neighborhood of multimillion dollar mansions and in 20 minutes be in a slum that resembles one in Calcutta India. In no other country in this world can anyone find such extremes. Unfortunately in the good old USA the color of someone's skin can be a huge factor in determining which neighborhood they're likely to born and raised in. Sadly this enormous disparity between the 2 faces of the United States illustrates one of the core principles of National Socialism and why it pushes for segregation. So If anyone ever wants to get your socks blown off then I suggest they do some research about Henry Ford (as in Ford Motor Company) and Nazism. The National Socialist movement actually owes much of its roots to Henry Ford and his book the "International Jew". It also didn't help much he was Hitler's benefactor in his pursuit of power. The United States used to be a really great nation but one of its biggest problems today is many of its economic policies are racially motivated and it has too many politicians that have cleverly veiled politics of hate. So regardless of the creators of the app are racist or not iit's still going to be a winner with racists. |
So how does the app work? ? "on board sensors track Jheri Curl in the atmosphere, when the parts per million increases to dangerous levels NWA's song, Approach to Danger, blares out of your iphone 6"

When I traveled to Ukraine some years ago I was informed to avoid the Police late nights or they would rob me.
When I was in USA I should avoid going downtown late evenings, in New Orleans it was dangerous to not stay on Burboun Street. In Thailand I was told to not go downtown late at night. Here in Sweden its not safe in the suburbs of Stockholm late nights. Some countries we are told to not visit at all (the middle east) I know for sure its not black people who are dangerous in all those cases. |
Great app!
Probably in less than 5 years they will have apps like this that automatically lock the doors, tint the windows and load the Glock in the glovebox in case you make a wrong turn. |
Your title is misleading, app just prevent you to get in bad city parts

So there is your first country to prove that wrong. In the United States we have the majority of people living very comfortably in the "middle" of your two extremes. You need to test your "no other country in this world" theory. Go down to Mexico. Go to Jamaica. Go to Peru. I've spent a bit of time at those three countries. And they totally prove your statement wrong. I've never been to Asia...but from what I have seen and read, the nations there also prove that there are LOTS of countries with no middle class at all. I think your statement is way over-exaggerating things and totally ignoring the FACT that a person in the U.S.A. who lives at "poverty level" would be considered "rich" in many nations. In most places in the world a person in "poverty" doesn't own a car, a cellphone, and have cable t.v. in their apartment. |

As a matter of fact, the poorest people in the US on average are still living in the top 32% of the planet. That remark about Kolkata can ONLY come from someone who has NEVER been to Kolkata http://b-i.forbesimg.com/timworstall...inequality.png Then, when you look at this one: http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/...ic-custom1.jpg " Notice how the entire line for the United States resides in the top portion of the graph? That?s because the entire country is relatively rich. In fact, America?s bottom ventile is still richer than most of the world: That is, the typical person in the bottom 5 percent of the American income distribution is still richer than 68 percent of the world?s inhabitants. Now check out the line for India. India?s poorest ventile corresponds with the 4th poorest percentile worldwide. And its richest? The 68th percentile. Yes, that?s right: America?s poorest are, as a group, about as rich as India?s richest. All of which should be something of a reality check for those who insist that America?s poor are being forgotten, left behind and all the rest. Even if you?re stuck in the bottom 5% of the US income distribution your standard of living is about equal to that of the top 5% of Indians. Even if you?re in the bottom 10% your standard of living is about the same as that of the bottom 10% in other rich countries (which, so we are told, care so much more and do so much more) like Sweden and Finland. And when we sweep everything together into some sort of quality of life measure the American poor are better off than the French or German poor. Maybe it?s true that the US doesn?t do enough for the poor in the US. That?s rather a judgement call based upon your own morals. But it?s very difficult to see in the actual figures that the US doesn?t do enough. The poor in the US are richer than around 70% of all the people extant. The poor in the US are about as poor, perhaps a bit richer, than the poor in other rich countries. It is true that there is more inequality in the US: but this isn?t because the poor are poorer. It?s because the rich are richer." . |

It's all relative, but let's try to get some perspective. |
http://www.heritage.org/research/rep...hat-is-poverty
"As scholar James Q. Wilson has stated, “The poorest Americans today live a better life than all but the richest persons a hundred years ago.”[3] In 2005, the typical household defined as poor by the government had a car and air conditioning. For entertainment, the household had two color televisions, cable or satellite TV, a DVD player, and a VCR. If there were children, especially boys, in the home, the family had a game system, such as an Xbox or a PlayStation.[4] In the kitchen, the household had a refrigerator, an oven and stove, and a microwave. Other household conveniences included a clothes washer, clothes dryer, ceiling fans, a cordless phone, and a coffee maker. The home of the typical poor family was not overcrowded and was in good repair. In fact, the typical poor American had more living space than the average European. The typical poor American family was also able to obtain medical care when needed. By its own report, the typical family was not hungry and had sufficient funds during the past year to meet all essential needs. Poor families certainly struggle to make ends meet, but in most cases, they are struggling to pay for air conditioning and the cable TV bill as well as to put food on the table. Their living standards are far different from the images of dire deprivation promoted by activists and the mainstream media. Regrettably, annual Census reports not only exaggerate current poverty, but also suggest that the number of poor persons[5] and their living conditions have remained virtually unchanged for four decades or more. In reality, the living conditions of poor Americans have shown significant improvement over time. Consumer items that were luxuries or significant purchases for the middle class a few decades ago have become commonplace in poor households. In part, this is caused by a normal downward trend in price following the introduction of a new product. Initially, new products tend to be expensive and available only to the affluent. Over time, prices fall sharply, and the product saturates the entire population, including poor households. As a rule of thumb, poor households tend to obtain modern conveniences about a dozen years after the middle class. Today, most poor families have conveniences that were unaffordable to the middle class not too long ago." . |

As far as Henry Ford, he was an anti-Semitic nutbag who had no effect on Hitler, Hitler admired him because they were both Jew haters but Hitler didn't need any help developing his racist political ideology. Ford's book 'The International Jew' was a plagiarization of the 'The Elders of Zion' a book written as a satire in France but taken by idiotic racists as factual. |
If you want to see racism you will always do.
This app is detecting dangerous neighborhoods, is it their fault that those are usually black? Fucking libtard morons... |
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion or The Protocols of the Meetings of the Learned Elders of Zion is an antisemitic hoax purporting to describe a Jewish plan for global domination.[1] It was first published in Russia in 1903, translated into multiple languages, and disseminated internationally in the early part of the 20th century. Henry Ford funded printing of 500,000 copies that were distributed throughout the US in the 1920s.
Adolf Hitler and the Nazis publicized the text as though it were a valid document, although it had already been exposed as fraudulent. After the Nazi Party came to power in 1933, it ordered the text to be studied in German classrooms. The historian Norman Cohn suggested that Hitler used the Protocols as his primary justification for initiating the Holocaust?his "warrant for genocide".[2] The Protocols purports to document the minutes of a late 19th-century meeting of Jewish leaders discussing their goal of global Jewish hegemony by subverting the morals of Gentiles, and by controlling the press and the world's economies. It is still widely available today and even now sometimes presented as a genuine document, whether on the Internet or in print in numerous languages. |
